Brave Anna
Brave Anna (foaled 3 March 2014) is an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old in 2016 she was rated the joint-best filly of her generation trained in Europe, inferior only to the American filly Lady Aurelia. After running moderately on her racecourse debut she won a maiden race before taking the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot. She was unplaced in her next two races before ending her season with a win in the Cheveley Park Stakes. Background Brave Anna is a bay mare with a white blaze bred in Kentucky by her owner Evelyn "Evie" Stockwell. Stockwell was the mother of John Magnier, the owner of the Coolmore Stud organisation. The filly was sent into training with Aidan O'Brien at Ballydoyle. She was sired by War Front who won the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap in 2006. Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf
The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf is an American Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-old horses, run on a grass course at a distance of one mile. It is part of the Breeders' Cup World Championships, the ''de facto'' year-end championship for North American thoroughbred racing. All Breeders' Cups to date have been conducted in the United States, with the exception of the 1996 event in Canada. The race was run for the first time in 2007 during the first day of the expanded Breeders' Cup at host track, Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey. The race received Grade II status in 2009. The American Graded Stakes Committee further upgraded the race to Grade I status for 2011. Ballyogan Stakes
The Ballyogan Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in Ireland open to thoroughbred fillies and mares aged three years or older. It is run at The Curragh over a distance of 6 furlongs (1,207 metres), and it is scheduled to take place each year in June. The event was formerly contested at Leopardstown over 5 furlongs and open to horses of either gender. It was held at Cork from 2002 to 2004, and on the last occasion it became a 6-furlong race for fillies and mares. It returned to Leopardstown from 2005 to 2014 before moving to The Curragh from 2015. Malibu Stakes
The Malibu Stakes is a race for three-year-old thoroughbred horses of either gender held each December at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The race is at a distance of seven furlongs '' and is the first leg of Santa Anita Park's Strub Series. A Grade I event currently with a $300,000 purse, it has attracted some of America's best horses following the Breeders' Cup. Inaugurated in 1952 as the Malibu Sequet Stakes, its name was changed to the present style in 1958. The Maker's Mark Mile Stakes is a Grade I American Thoroughbred horse race for horses age four years old and older over a distance of one mile on the turf held annually in early April at Keeneland Race Course, Lexington, Kentucky during the spring meeting. History The event was inaugurated as the Fort Harrod Stakes on 13 April 1989 and was run over distance of about miles the won by the seven year old Yankee Affair who set a course record in winning the event in a time of 1:43. The Hong Kong Classic Mile is a domestic Group 1 four year old set weights Thoroughbred horse race in Hong Kong, run over a distance of 1600 metres. It was originally a Group 3 race and was the traditional lead-up race for the Hong Kong Derby. In the season of 1999/2000, this race was upgraded to domestic Group 1 status. The Del Mar Oaks is an American Thoroughbred horse race run annually in mid August at the Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California. War Command
War Command (foaled 27 April 2011) is an American-bred, Irish-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. As a two-year-old he won the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot by six lengths and then won the Futurity Stakes, before going on to record his first Group 1 win in the Dewhurst Stakes. In his first run as a three-year-old he finished down the field in the 2000 Guineas. He was subsequently beaten in two other Group One races as a three-year-old before being retired to stud where he has proved a successful young sire.
