Brasserie Battin
Brasserie Battin, is a Luxembourgish brewery founded by Charles Battin in 1937 in the city of Esch-Alzette. Since 2004 Brasserie Nationale owns Brasserie Battin; since 2005 the beer brand Battin is brewed in Bascharage. History In 1937 Charles Battin founded Brasserie Battin in Esch-Alzette to supply the important local market in southern Luxembourg, due to the steel industry. Although being the smallest and youngest of all luxembourgish breweries, Battin was quickly successful, also thanks to the talent of its first brewermaster, Kurt Mocker. Nicolas Origer, the husband of Charles Battin's daughter, took over the management from 1954 to 1962 before handing over to his own sons, Mark and Paul Origer. Bascharage
Bascharage (; lb, Nidderkäerjeng ; german: Niederkerschen) is a town and a former commune in south-western Luxembourg. Since 2012, it is part of the commune of Käerjeng. History Bascharage with the other towns like Linger, Hautcharage, and Pétange were owned by the "Hoheit Kerschen". The first known reference to them was on April 4, 1281 for obtaining their freedom under the law of Beamont "Freiheitsbrief nach Böhmerrecht". The freedom of Clemency probably happened in 1260. After the occupation of France (1794 – 1815), the "Hoheit Kerschen" changed in "municipalité cantonale Bascharage" with the townships of Bascharage, Clemency, Mamer, Garnich, and Dippach. In the industrial sector, the Luxembourg steel industry continues to occupy the first place in the country, even after the industrial reforms which have taken place since the 1960s.
