Brandon Sproat
Brandon Carl Sproat (born September 17, 2000) is an American professional baseball pitcher in the New York Mets organization. He was drafted by the Mets in the 2023 Major League Baseball draft. Amateur career The Texas Rangers drafted Sproat out of Pace High School in the 7th round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. Despite rumors he would sign to an over slot deal, Sproat honored his college commitment and attended the University of Florida. In 2021, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. In 2022, Sproat had a career year where he pitched innings, while recording a 9-4 record, and a 3.41 ERA, while striking out 134 batters. For his performance he was named second-team All-SEC. Sproat was drafted by the New York Mets in the 3rd round of the 2022 Major League Baseball draft, but did not sign and returned to Florida. 2022 Major League Baseball Draft
The 2022 Major League Baseball draft took place on July 17–19, 2022, in Los Angeles. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to Major League Baseball (MLB) teams. The draft order was based on the reverse order of the 2021 MLB season standings. In addition, compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2021 MLB draft. Zach Neto made his MLB debut for the Los Angeles Angels on April 15, 2023, making him the first player from the 2022 draft to make his major league debut.
