Bramley Buffaloes
Bramley Buffaloes is an amateur rugby league club based in West Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The club was formed in 2000 following the demise of the original Bramley club that they are considered a continuation of. History 2000–2004: foundations At the end of the 1999 season Bramley RLFC resigned from the Northern Ford Premiership after years of financial issues. The club applied to rejoin the Northern Ford Premiership in 2000 with the intention of becoming a feeder club for Leeds Rhinos and playing home games at Farsley Celtics Throstle Nest however they were rejected in favour of a bid from Gateshead Thunder. A new supporter owned club was quickly formed and applied again the join the Northern Ford Premiership in 2001 which would have seen the club playing out of Farsley Celtics Throstle Nest stadium, however the RFL rejected the bid over the ground not meeting minimum standards. Bradford Dudley Hill RLFC is an amateur rugby league team based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Originally formed after the First World War, the club was re-established in 1948. History Early years Established just after the First World War, Dudley Hill originally played on the old Bierley estate. They were led by rugby league player Stanley Brogden who, after his career as a stand-off with Leeds, Yorkshire and Great Britain, wanted to put something back into the grassroots of rugby league. The club was disbanded prior to the Second World War, and was reformed in 1948, due to Les Brady, who was running the successful Bierley under 18 team at the time, Vincent Heslop and Danny Cullerton. Heslop advertised in the ''Telegraph & Argus'' for players and, together with players progressing from the Bierley under 18 team, the Dudley Hill open age team was formed. Carlisle RLFC were a rugby league team based in Carlisle, Cumbria. The club was called Carlisle Border Raiders for the 1997 season, after which it merged with Barrow Braves. History Early rugby league in Carlisle ''Carlisle City'', based at Harraby Greyhound Stadium close to Gillford Park, were admitted to the Northern Rugby Football Union for the 1928–29 season. They withdrew on 8 November 1928, after only ten games of which they won 1 and lost 9, scoring 59 and conceding 166. Hunslet () is an inner-city area in south Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It is southeast of the city centre and has an industrial past. It is situated in the Hunslet and Riverside ward of Leeds City Council and Leeds South parliamentary constituency. Chris Gardner nicknamed "Stan" (born 19 October 1955) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. He played for Cronulla-Sutherland in the New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) competition. Playing career Gardner made his first grade debut for Cronulla in Round 3 1978 against the Parramatta Eels at Cumberland Oval. In 1978, Cronulla finished 2nd on the table and qualified for the finals. Cronulla defeated Manly in the opening week of the finals series 17-12. Cronulla then defeated minor premiers Western Suburbs to reach their second grand final against Manly. After just 4 games in first grade, Gardner was selected to play in the 1978 NSWRL grand replay to replace Mick Mullane Jr. who was injured in the first final. Peter Roe is a rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s, and coached in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. He played at club level for Keighley, Bradford Northern, York and Hunslet, as a , and coached at club level for Keighley (three spells), Halifax, Barrow (two spells), Swinton (two spells), Featherstone Rovers and Wakefield Trinity. Featherstone Lions are an amateur rugby league club from Featherstone, West Yorkshire who play in the National Conference League and the Yorkshire Men's League.
