Brades
Brades (; also Brades Estate) is a town and the '' de facto'' capital of Montserrat since 1998 with an approximate population of 1,000. History The still ''de jure'' capital of Montserrat at Plymouth in the south of the island was abandoned in 1997 after it was buried by the eruptions of the Soufrière Hills volcano which began erupting in 1995. Interim government buildings have since been built at Brades, becoming the new temporary capital in 1998. The move is intended to be temporary, but it has remained the island's ''de facto'' capital ever since. Several names have been suggested for the new official capital now being constructed in the Little Bay area. Montserrat ( , ) is a British Overseas Territories, British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is part of the Leeward Islands, the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles chain of the West Indies. Montserrat is about long and wide, with roughly of coastline. Plymouth is a ghost town and the ''de jure'' capital of the island of Montserrat, an overseas territory of the United Kingdom located in the Leeward Island chain of the Lesser Antilles, West Indies. It is the only ghost town that is the capital of a political territory. Constructed during the Georgian Era on historical lava deposits near the then-long inactive Soufrière Hills volcano, the town was evacuated in 1995 when the volcano resumed erupting. A temporary capital or a provisional capital is a city or town chosen by a government as an interim base of operations due to some difficulty in retaining or establishing control of a different metropolitan area. Little Bay is a port town under construction which is intended to be the future capital of the island of Montserrat, a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is adjacent to the town of Brades, where government headquarters are currently located. Montserrat Secondary School
The Montserrat Secondary School, often referred to for short as MSS, is the only secondary school which also has students younger than 16, on the island of Montserrat. The school's campus is in Salem on the western coast of the island. Prior to 2004 it was responsible for Montserrat's sixth form education (post-16); currently Montserrat Community College (MCC) offers Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) sixth-form classes. Maizie Ursula Williams (born 25 March 1951) is a British model, dancer and singer who became one of the original members of the successful 1970s disco music group Boney M.
