Brace (MMA)
Brace (formerly known as ''Brace For War'') was an Australian mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion. Brace was founded in 2005 by Kya Pate. In an interview with MMA Kanvas Kya Pate detailed what it is like to be the promoter of Australian MMA. Since 2009 Brace has staged 50 events in 9 cities over 4 Australian States. After following the standard MMA format, in 2014 Brace changed to an elimination tournament format based on the style of AFL, NRL, A-League soccer. 8 Fighters per division compete in knock out elimination rounds all aiming to reach an end of season Grand Final event. Brace follows the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. Mixed martial arts (MMA), sometimes referred to as cage fighting, no holds barred (NHB), and ultimate fighting, and originally referred to as Vale Tudo is a full-contact combat sport based on strike (attack), striking, grappling and ground fighting, incorporating techniques from various combat sports from around the world. The first documented use of the term ''mixed martial arts'' was in a review of UFC 1 by television critic Howard Rosenberg in 1993. The question of who actually coined the term is subject to debate. Townsville Entertainment Centre
Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre is an indoor sports arena located in Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The capacity of the arena is 5,257 and was built in 1993. Tenants From 1993 until the end of the 2013–14 NBL season, the centre was the home arena of the Townsville Crocodiles basketball team. During Crocodiles games, the venue was commonly referred to as "The Swamp". Due to a downturn in attendance figures, the Crocs played at the Townsville RSL Stadium during the 2014–15 NBL season. In May 2015, the Crocodiles announced they would be returning to "The Swamp" for the 2015–16 season. In 2021, the centre is set to become the new home arena for the Townsville Fire women's basketball team, ahead of the 2021–22 WNBL season. North Sydney Leagues Club
The North Sydney Leagues Club (rebranded as Norths) is a licensed club located in Abbott Street, Cammeray. The club was established in 1955 by the district's football club, the North Sydney Bears, in a house in the Sydney suburb of Neutral Bay. The club has occupied its current premises since 1964. In the fifty years the new building has stood, a number of redesigns and refurbishments have taken place. In 2014, facilities comprised two dining areas, function rooms, a 530-seat auditorium, a fitness and wellness centre, indoor and outdoor lounge areas, a bottle shop, a TAB, two squash courts, a courtesy bus service, a members rewards program and a multi-level car park for 320 vehicles.
