Baron Brabazon Of Tara
Baron Brabazon of Tara, of Sandwich in the County of Kent, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created on 27 April 1942 for the aviation pioneer and Conservative politician John Moore-Brabazon. Moore-Brabazon was a descendant through a female line of The 7th Earl of Meath. His father, Major John Arthur Henry Moore, had assumed the additional surname of Brabazon in 1866 by Royal Licence. the title is held by the first Baron's grandson, the third Baron, who succeeded his father in 1974. He is also a Conservative politician and was one of the ninety elected hereditary peers that remain in the House of Lords after the passing of the House of Lords Act 1999, retiring in 2022. Brabazon Baronets
The Brabazon Baronetcy, of Newpark in the County of Mayo, was a title in the Baronetage of Ireland. It was created on 16 December 1797 for Anthony Brabazon. He was the eldest son and heir of George Brabazon, of New Park in County Mayo, fourth in descent from Sir Anthony Brabazon of Ballinasloe Castle, younger brother of Edward Brabazon, 1st Baron Ardee, ancestor of the Earls of Meath. His son, the second Baronet, represented County Mayo in Parliament. The title became extinct on his death in 1840. Brabazon Park was eventually inherited by Hugh Brabazon Higgins, only son of Luke Higgins of Castlebar by his second wife Catherine, sister of Sir Anthony Brabazon. He was a Captain in the 15th Hussars, and adopted the surname of Brabazon by royal licence of 15 September 1852. He died in 1864, leaving issue. Earl of Meath is a title in the Peerage of Ireland. It was created in 1627 and is held by the head of the Brabazon family. History The Brabazon family descends from Sir Edward Brabazon, who represented County Wicklow in the Irish House of Commons and served as High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1606. He was raised to the Peerage of Ireland as Baron Ardee in 1616. He was succeeded by his eldest son, the second Baron. He was created Earl of Meath in the Peerage of Ireland in 1627, with remainder to his younger brother, the Hon. Sir Anthony Brabazon. Lord Meath was succeeded by his son, the second Earl. Brabazon, Bristol
Brabazon is a British mixed-use development located on land on the former Filton Airfield in South Gloucestershire, and is a new extension to the northern fringe of Bristol. Background The former airfield site has been earmarked by South Gloucestershire Council for 2,675 new homes. In 2019, YTL Corporation was announced as the major developer of the site. Construction on the first homes is due to begin in 2020 with first residents arriving in 2021. In December 2021, YTL announced proposals to add 1,000 houses, more green space and some commercial development nearby the original site on the former Patchway Trading Estate. In January 2024, YTL obtained planning permission to build 1,500 student flats and 400 private homes to the south of the main development, near to the planned Bristol Arena and public transport links. The Belfry
The Belfry is a golf resort and hotel in Wishaw, Warwickshire, close to Sutton Coldfield, England, located approximately 8 miles from the centre of Birmingham. It was acquired by KSL Capital Partners in August 2012. The resort has three golf courses. The Brabazon Course is the main tournament course, and the others are the PGA National and The Derby. The headquarters of The Professional Golfers' Association are also located there, along with a 4-star hotel, tennis courts and a leisure spa. The Belfry has hosted the Ryder Cup on four occasions and has staged numerous European Tour events. In 2013, The Belfry underwent a comprehensive £26 million renovation of all bedrooms, meeting rooms, public spaces and other amenities. There was also a general uplift on the whole grounds appearance, including a new lobby entrance. The hotel remained open during the renovations and they were successfully completed.
