Boy Sablan
Rodil "Boy" Sablan is a Filipino coach. Career A UST alumnus, Sablan started his career at UST Growling Tigers as an assistant coach for player academics under his former college teammate Pido Jarencio. He also became an assistant coach under Leo Isaac. He became the head coach of UST in 2016. UST Growling Tigers Basketball
The UST Growling Tigers basketball is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of the University of Santo Tomas. The school has won 19 basketball titles including one in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They are one of the winningest teams in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) with 18 championships, the last coming in 2006 during Pido Jarencio's rookie year of coaching. Jarencio returned as the team's head coach after ten years since resigning in 2013. He formally replaced Bal David on February 3, 2023. 2016 UST Growling Tigers Basketball Team
The 2016 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 79th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2016–17 began on September 4, 2016, and the host school for the season was also UST. The Tigers finished eighth and last at the end of the double round-robin eliminations, winning three games against eleven losses. It was the most number of losses in a season for the Growling Tigers since the Final Four format began in 1993. They had an average winning margin of 3.7 points and an average losing margin of 16.2 points. Three of their losses were by blowouts, once to the Adamson Falcons in the first round by 27 points, and twice to the De La Salle Green Archers by 38 and 43 points respectively. The 2017 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 80th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2017–18 began on September 9, 2017 and the host school for the season was Far Eastern University. The Tigers finished eighth and last at the end of the double round-robin eliminations for the second straight year. The team went on a 17-game losing streak that dated back from Season 79, winning only their last assignment to save themselves from having a winless season. They had a final record of 1 win against 13 losses, the worst for the team in the last 28 years. This is also a new team low in the Final Four era, beating the previous year's record of 3 wins and 11 losses. The Blackwater Bossing is a professional basketball team owned by Ever Bilena, Inc. that is playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) beginning in the 2014–2015 season. The franchise started as one of the founding teams in the PBA Developmental League. It transferred to the PBA after being accepted as an expansion team. Aldin Valladolid Ayo (born October 15, 1977) is a Filipino basketball coach and politician who previously served as head coach for the Converge FiberXers of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He formerly played (in late 90s) and coached his alma mater Letran Knights. High school career Ayo, a native of Sorsogon City, graduated from Colegio De La Milagrosa in elementary and finished his high school education at the Our Lady of Peñafrancia Seminary in 1994. Collegiate career Ayo played collegiate basketball at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran from 1998 to 2001. He teamed up with Kerby Raymundo and Chris Calaguio to help the Letran Knights win back-to-back NCAA titles in 1998 and 1999. Leandro "Leo" Isaac (born February 2, 1961) is a Filipino former basketball player, commentator, and former head coach of the Blackwater Elite in the Philippine Basketball Association. He is chief operating officer of the basketball league Sinag Liga Asya.
