Boy Edgar, pseudonyms of ''George Willem Fred Edgar'' ( Amsterdam, 31 March 1915 – 8 April 1980), was a Dutch jazz conductor, pianist and trumpeter.Huygens ING – Amsterdam. Wessel Ilcken
Wessel Ilcken (December 2, 1923 in Hilversum – July 13, 1957 in Loosdrecht) was a Dutch jazz drummer. Ilcken lived in Paris in his youth, where he began to play drums and played in Piet van Dijk's band. In 1945, he married singer Rita Reys, and led his own group from 1950, touring widely throughout western Europe. He played extensively on the Dutch jazz scene, including on the albums ''Jazz Behind the Dikes'' (1955–56), and worked with the American musicians Joe Carroll, Bob Cooper, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Kenton, and Herbie Mann, as well as the Swedish Lars Gullin. The VPRO/Boy Edgar Award, is an annual award given to a Dutch jazz musician, composer, or bandleader. The individual must have made significant contributions to the Dutch jazz scene over a significant period of time. The award is a sculpture by Dutch fine artist Jan Wolkers, and a cash prize of 12,500 euros. It is widely regarded as the Netherlands' most prestigious and honorable jazz award. The award is given under the auspicies of the VPRO and Music Center the Netherlands. Bijlmermeer
The Bijlmermeer (), or colloquially Bijlmer (), is one of the neighbourhoods that form the Amsterdam-Zuidoost borough ( Dutch: ''stadsdeel'') of Amsterdam, Netherlands. To many people, the Bijlmer designation is used to refer to Amsterdam Zuidoost as a ''pars pro toto''. The other neighbourhoods in Amsterdam Zuidoost are Gaasperdam, Bullewijk, Venserpolder and Driemond. The Bijlmermeer neighbourhood, which today houses almost 50,000 people of over 150 nationalities, was designed as a single project as part of a then innovative Modernist approach to urban design. Duivendrecht
Duivendrecht () is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Ouder-Amstel, and lies about 6 km southeast of Amsterdam’s city centre.
