Botticino High
Botticino (Brescian: ) is a town and ''comune'' (commune or municipality) in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, Italy. The ''comune'' was created in 1928 by the union of the former ''comuni'' of Botticino Mattina and Botticino Sera, which today, together with San Gallo, are classified as the municipality's three ''frazioni''. Neighbouring communes are Brescia, Nave, Nuvolera, Rezzato and Serle. It lies directly northeast of Brescia. It gave its name to '' marmo botticino'', a valuable sedimentary limestone. Botticino is also a DOC of Lombardian wine. Rezzato
Rezzato (Brescian: ) is a ''comune'' in the province of Brescia, Lombardy. It is bounded by the comunes of Brescia, Botticino, Castenedolo, Mazzano and Nuvolera. It is located at the foot of the Alps and a few kilometres from Lake Garda. It is the most populous city east of Brescia. Officially founded on 12 March 1299, Rezzato has been an important religious and administrative centre since the Middle Ages. The settlement has played a significant role in Italian history, notably during Second Italian War of Independence when the Austrians led by Field Marshal Karl von Urban defeated the Sardinians commanded by Giuseppe Garibaldi in the famous Battle of Treponti (1859). Paolo Bolpagni (born in Brescia) is an Italian art historian, critic and curator. Life Bolpagni was born in Brescia, in Lombardy in northern Italy. He graduated in letters from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Brescia, and then completed a doctorate in history of art at the same university in Milan. Since 2010 he has taught at the Brescia campus of the university. He also teaches at the Università degli Studi eCampus. From 2008 to 2011, and again from 2013, he was director of the in Concesio, in the province of Brescia, and in 2016 became director of the Fondazione Centro Studi sull'Arte Licia e Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti in Lucca, in Tuscany. Benedetto Castelli
Benedetto Castelli (1578 – 9 April 1643), born Antonio Castelli, was an Italians, Italian mathematician. Benedetto was his name in religion on entering the Benedictine Order in 1595. Life Born in Brescia, Castelli studied at the University of Padua and later became an abbot at the Benedictine monastery in Monte Cassino. He was a long-time friend and supporter of his teacher, Galileo Galilei, and in turn, he was a teacher to Vincenzo Gamba, Galileo's son. He assisted Galileo's study of sunspots and participated in the examination of the theories of Nicolaus Copernicus. Castelli was interested in mathematics and hydraulics. Lombardy wine is the Italian wine produced in the Lombardy region of north central Italy. The region is known particularly for its sparkling wines made in the Franciacorta and Oltrepò Pavese areas. Serle (Brescian: ) is a ''comune'' in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, Italy. It is bordered by the neighboring communes of Nuvolento, Caino and Botticino. History Framed by the mountains of Valle Sabbia, the municipality of Serle is located in a basin of the valley rising up from the river Chiese to Cariadeghe plateau. The etymology of the name could originate from this morphological feature, since ''serule'' means dolina. The area has been inhabited since the Mesolithic period. Being a Roman settlement, as shown by an old furnace, Serle was very important in the early 11th century, when the bishop of Brescia Olderico founded the monastery of San Peter in Monte Orsino on mount San Bartolomeo.
