''Botaniska Notiser'' was a Swedish scientific periodical concerning botany, issued in Lund, by Societate botanica Lundensi or unds Botaniska Förening It was published from 1839 to 1980, when it fused with ''Botanisk Tidsskrift'', '' Friesia'' and ''Norwegian Journal of Botany'' to form the ''Nordic Journal of Botany''. In 2001, the journal reappeared as a regional journal for botany in south Sweden. Monographs were published in a parallel series, ''Botaniska Notiser Supplement'' (1947-1954). This series was fused in 1980 with '' Dansk Botanisk Arkiv'' under the name '' Opera Botanica'', which since then has been the monograph series of the ''Nordic Journal of Botany''. Botany
Botany, also called plant science (or plant sciences), plant biology or phytology, is the science of plant life and a branch of biology. A botanist, plant scientist or phytologist is a scientist who specialises in this field. ''Grevillea'', commonly known as spider flowers, is a genus of about 360 species of evergreen flowering plants in the family Proteaceae. P. Arne K. Strid (born March 7, 1943 in Kristianstad, Sweden) is a Swedish botanist and expert on Greek flora. Biography He studied botany, chemistry and genetics in the University of Lund and graduated in 1970. His doctorate was about an experimental study for the differentiation and evolution of a group of plants (''Nigella arvensis'' complex) in the Aegean archipelago (supervisor: professor Hans Runemark) for which he also won the Jesse M. Greenman prize for the best dissertation about scientific classification of plants that year. He was professor of botany (1973-2001) at the University of Copenhagen and distinguished visiting professor at the University of Patras, Greece (1997-1998). Hans Runemark
P. Hans B. Runemark (7 January 1927 – 11 December 2014) was a Swedish botanist and lichenologist, emeritus professor at Lund University. Biography Born in Chicago, (U.S.A.), he graduated in 1956 at Lund University, having started his studies there on the yellow species of the lichen, Rhizocarpon, in the late 1940s. The work undertaken for his PhD was subsequently published as a monograph in the journal Botaniska Notiser. Runemark used the newly discovered technique of paper chromatography as a tool in lichen taxonomy, and his monograph included species descriptions with detailed distribution maps for the Nordic and European regions. His work is still regarded as a useful contribution to the understanding of the genus, and can be considered to be one of the first modern monographs. Rolf Martin Theodor Dahlgren (7 July 1932 – 14 February 1987) was a Swedish- Danish botanist and professor at the University of Copenhagen from 1973 to his death. Life Dahlgren was born in Örebro on 7 July 1932 to apothecary Rudolf Dahlgren and wife Greta née Dahlstrand. He took his MSc degree in Biology in (1955) and PhD degree in Botany in (1963) at Lund University. He was killed in a car crash in Scania, Sweden on 14 February 1987. Career He continued working on South African plants during expeditions in 1956-57 and 1965–66, while affiliated with the ''Botanical Museum'' in Lund as ''docent''. In 1973, he became professor of botany at the University of Copenhagen.
