Boston University–Holy Cross Rivalry
The Boston University–Holy Cross rivalry is an American college rivalry that exists between the Boston University Terriers sports teams of Boston University and the Holy Cross Crusaders sports teams of The College of the Holy Cross. The Terriers and Crusaders have a program-wide rivalry called the ''Turnpike Trophy'', which BU leads 2–0 as of 2017. Both schools are members of the Patriot League. BU and Holy Cross had been conference rivals in the past prior to the former joining the Patriot League in 2013. The two schools were in the ECAC-North Conference (now known as the America East Conference) together from 1979–83, at which point the Crusaders departed for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Boston University Terriers
The Boston University Terriers are the ten men's and fourteen women's Varsity team, varsity athletic teams representing Boston University in NCAA Division I competition. Boston University's team nickname is the Terriers, and the official mascot is Rhett the Boston Terrier. The school colors are Scarlet (color), Scarlet and White. The majority of Boston University's teams compete as members of the Patriot League, with the ice hockey teams competing in Hockey East and rowing competing in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges, EARC. Conference change On July 1, 2013, Boston University left the America East Conference and joined the Patriot League. Sports sponsored Boston University is one of 4 NCAA Division I schools to not sponsor at least one of women's volleyball or baseball (The other 3 being Detroit Titans, Detroit Mercy, Drexel Dragons, Drexel, and Vermont Catamounts, Vermont).
