Ligurian Sea
The Ligurian Sea is an arm of the Mediterranean Sea. It lies between the Italian Riviera ( Liguria) and the island of Corsica. The sea is thought to have been named after the ancient Ligures people. Parodi Ligure is a ''comune'' in the province of Alessandria, part of Piedmont, in northwest Italy. History Evidence of the existence of the Parodi Ligure region goes back as early as 937 when it was identified as "Palode". It was later assigned to the Castiglione monastery. The town was fortified around 1128 (Castrum Palodii).
