John Bosco McDermott (born 1936 in Dunmore, County Galway, Dunmore, County Galway) is an Irish people, Irish former sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local clubs Dunmore GAA, Dunmore and Williamstown GAA, Williamstown and was a member of the Galway GAA, Galway senior inter-county team in the 1950s and 1960s. McDermott later served as manager of the Galway team between 1993 and 1996. Dunmore () is a town in County Galway, Ireland. It is located on the N83 road (Ireland), N83 national secondary road at its junction with the R328 road (Ireland), R328 and R360 road (Ireland), R360 Regional road (Ireland), regional roads. The town is in a townland and Civil parishes in Ireland, civil parish of the same name. The town belongs to an ancient tuath called Conmhaícne Dúna Móir, Conmhaícne Dúna-Móir and Cenél Dubáin, ruled by Uí Conchobair of Ui Briuin, Ui Briuin Ai from the 12th century, and a capital of Connacht for a time. The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) () or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Galway is one of the few dual counties in Ireland, competing in a similar level in both hurling and football codes. Prior to amalgamation of the hurling and football county boards into one county board, each of the two codes were previously run by their separate boards in Galway, which was unusual for a dual county. Gaelic football (; short name '')'', commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA, or football, is an Irish team sport. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or palming the ball into the other team's Goal (sport), goal (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goal and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the ball up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). John Tobin (Gaelic Footballer)
John Tobin (born 1952) is an Irish former Gaelic football manager and player. His league and championship career at senior level with the Galway county team spanned twelve seasons from 1971 until 1983. Tobin served as manager of the team from 1989 until 1993 before taking charge of Roscommon from 2000 to 2001. Val Daly
Val Daly is an Irish Gaelic football manager and former player. Originally from Mountbellew, Daly made his debut with the county side in the 1981 National League and played until the 1997 Championship season when he was player manager. An All-Star in 1987 and 1990, Daly won five Connacht Senior Football Championship titles. As well as managing the Galway football team between 1996 and 1997, he was also appointed temporary manager of the Roscommon county football team in 2005, after the resignation of Tommy Carr from the post. He is currently manager of his own club side Mountbellew–Moylough in the Galway Senior Football Championship.
