Borås HC
Borås HC is a Swedish professional ice hockey club, based in Borås, currently playing in Swedish division 2. The club played constantly in the second-tier league HockeyAllsvenskan between 2007 and 2012, but due to economical problems the Board of HockeyAllsvenskan announced on 27 June 2012 that they would not grant Borås HC elite license for the 2012–13 season and the club was therefore relegated to Division 1. They appealed the decision to the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, but the appeal was effectively turned down on 6 July 2012. Borås
Borås ( , , ) is a city (officially, a locality) and the seat of Borås Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden. It had 66,273 inhabitants in 2010. Geography Borås is located at the point of two crossing railways, among them the railway between Gothenburg and Kalmar, and is often considered the Swedish city gaining the most from the nationwide railway system laid between 1870 and 1910. History The city of Borås received its privileges in 1621 by King Gustav II Adolf. Mattias Remstam
Mattias Remstam (born January 25, 1975, in Nittorp, Sweden) is a professional Swedish ice hockey player, currently playing for Borås HC in the Swedish tier two division HockeyAllsvenskan. Playing career Remstam is big, physical player who often uses his 214 pounds on the ice. He has got good scoring abilities but has from 2006 to 2007 suffered from several injuries. He started plying ice hockey with his hometown hockey club Nittorps IK in the Swedish tier four league system. After seven seasons with the club he was picked up by the Elitserien club HV71 and played for them from 1999 to 2008. During HV71's last pre-season training match against Södertälje SK Remstam was hit by a hip tackle from Stefan Bemström. Remstam fell to the ice with an injured knee and a cut to his forehead. Fabian Brunnström
Fabian Brunnström (born 6 February 1985) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey forward. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Dallas Stars and Detroit Red Wings. Playing career Brunnström began playing professionally in Sweden's third highest hockey league with Jonstorps IF in 2005–06, scoring 44 points in 38 games. The following year, he joined Borås HC, helping their promotion to the second-tier Allsvenskan with a league-leading 73 points in 41 games. In 2007–08, Brunnström began garnering attention from the NHL while playing in the top-tier Elitserien with Färjestads BK. Undrafted by an NHL club, he was an unrestricted free agent in the NHL. Stefan Persson (ice Hockey)
Eric Stefan Persson (born 22 December 1954) is a Swedish professional ice hockey executive and former player. He is the general manager of Borås HC hockey club in Sweden. Persson played for nine seasons with the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League (NHL), where he was a member of four Stanley Cup championship teams in the early 1980s. Playing career Persson made his playing debut as an 18-year-old defenceman with Piteå IF. In 1973 he joined Brynäs. While with Brynäs, he received his first national championship silver medal and two national championship gold medals, in 1976 and 1977. It was during this time that the New York Islanders drafted him, so Persson decided to go overseas to play in the NHL. Persson's responsible, defensive style was endorsed highly by the Islanders head coach, Al Arbour, and Persson's career in the NHL started swiftly. Sergei Fokin (ice Hockey)
Sergei Fokin (born May 2, 1963 in Moscow, Soviet Union) is a former professional Russian ice hockey player. He started his career in the Soviet Union in 1983, playing for Crystal Saratov. In 1984 he signed with Spartak Moskva and he stayed with them until 1992, when he moved to Sweden and sign with VIK Västerås HK, where he joined fellow countryman Mishat Fahrutdinov. After two season with Västerås, he signed for another Swedish team, Färjestads BK, a team that he wouldn't leave until 2002. During his time with Färjestad he won three Swedish Championships, 1997, 1998 and 2002. When he left Färjestad, he called it his retirement and he signed with a lower league team Borås HC. But during his first season with Borås was he was loaned to Malmö Redhawks for a couple of games. But these were his last games at the top level. Nikolai Vladimirovich Drozdetsky (russian: Николай Владимирович Дроздецкий, 14 June 1957 – 25 November 1995) was a Russian ice hockey right winger. He played for SKA Leningrad in 1974–1979, then for HC CSKA Moscow from 1979 until part way through the 1986/87 season, when he played again for Leningrad, until 1989. The Swedish Ice Hockey Association ( sv, Svenska Ishockeyförbundet (SIF)) in Swedish, is an association of Swedish ice hockey clubs. It was established in Stockholm on 17 November 1922 by representatives from seven clubs. Before then, organized ice hockey in Sweden had been administered by the Swedish Football Association.
