Borneo Convention Centre Kuching
The Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) is a convention centre located in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. It is the first dedicated convention and exhibition centre in Borneo and the second-largest convention centre in Borneo after the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu. Located approximately 8 km from the city centre, it aims to organize and attract local and international concerts, events, exhibitions and conventions to Sarawak. The convention centre is managed by Borneo Isthmus Development Sdn. Bhd., which is a Sarawak state-owned company. It oversees all operational aspects of convention centre. BCCK is commonly mistaken as the new office for the Sarawak Convention Bureau (SCB). The SCB functions to attract and bid for conferences and meetings to the state of Sarawak which can be hosted in any venue as chosen by the organizers. Asian Television Awards
The Asian Television Awards (launched in 1996), is an appreciation to recognize and reward programming and production excellence in the Asian television industry. Held every December, the Awards comprises 56 categories across news, documentaries & current affairs, kids and animation, entertainment, drama, technical, digital as well as performances including acting and directing. Miss World Malaysia 2018
Miss World Malaysia 2018, the 51st edition of the Miss World Malaysia and the first edition under a new management was held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching in Sarawak on 8 September 2018. Present were Sarawak Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang as well as Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, the wife of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak and Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports. The winner received a crown worth RM4 million, RM30,000 cash and RM30,000 worth of prizes. The event itself was supported by the Ministry of Tourism Sarawak. 12 contestants competed in the grand finale. Sarawakian lass Larissa Ping was crowned Miss World Malaysia 2018. She was crowned by Malaysian actresses, Nabila Huda and Carmen Soo. She then represented Malaysia at Miss World 2018 in Sanya, China where she placed in the Top 30. Solar Gain
Solar gain (also known as solar heat gain or passive solar gain) is the increase in thermal energy of a space, object or structure as it absorbs incident solar radiation. The amount of solar gain a space experiences is a function of the total incident solar irradiance and of the ability of any intervening material to transmit or resist the radiation. Objects struck by sunlight absorb its visible and short-wave infrared components, increase in temperature, and then re-radiate that heat at longer infrared wavelengths. Though transparent building materials such as glass allow visible light to pass through almost unimpeded, once that light is converted to long-wave infrared radiation by materials indoors, it is unable to escape back through the window since glass is opaque to those longer wavelengths. Kuching (), officially the City of Kuching, is the capital and the most populous city in the state of Sarawak in Malaysia. It is also the capital of Kuching Division.
