Boovie
''Boovie'' is a 1998 Czech puzzle video game by Future Games for MS-DOS released in early 1998. It came out on CD-ROM in January 1999. Based on the game Boovie (1994) for ZX Spectrum. The sequel, Boovie 2 (1998) for ZX Spectrum, is by a different authors (E.S.A. Production - Tuleby, Max, Factor6). Gameplay The player controls Boovie, and must push a bright brick into a teleporter to progress to the next level. The game has 20 to 40 levels, depending on the selected difficulty. Development ''Boovie'' is a remake of the game of the same name, which the authors programmed in 1994 for the ZX Spectrum. It's a game inspired by '' Flappy'' (1983). After the game, the developers had long tried to create a second part in spring 1999. None of the authors however didn't last long and the project died. The game has been translated into English. ''Bloodie'' is a 1998 Czech puzzle video game for MS-DOS. Development The game began life as a demo program and variation of ''Boovie'', and it uses the same graphics engine as the other game. The video game industry in the Czech Republic has produced numerous globally successful video games such as '' Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis'' and the subsequent ''Arma'' series, the ''Mafia'' series, the '' Truck Simulator'' series, the '' Kingdom Come: Deliverance'' series, the '' Samorost'' series, ''Factorio,'' ''Space Engineers'' and others. There were 300–400 video game developers and around 30 video game companies focusing on video game development in 2014. In 2017, the country had 1,100 developers and 47 companies. Video games are also considered by some experts to be the country's biggest cultural export. The video game industry did not enjoy a good reputation and was unsupported by the state until 2013, when the Ministry of Industry and Trade started to seek ways to kickstart the economy. ZX Spectrum
The ZX Spectrum () is an 8-bit computing, 8-bit home computer developed and marketed by Sinclair Research. One of the most influential computers ever made and one of the all-time bestselling British computers, over five million units were sold. It was released in the United Kingdom on 23 April 1982, and around the world in the following years, most notably in Europe and the United States. Flappy
is a puzzle video game by dB-Soft in the same vein as the '' Eggerland'' series and ''Sokoban'' that is obscure outside Japan. It stars Flappy, a somewhat mole-like character who must complete each level by pushing a blue stone from its starting place to the blue tile destination. Flappy first appeared on the Sharp X1 home computer in 1983. This debut was soon followed by conversions to a number of popular Japanese computers in the early 1980s, including the NEC's line of PCs and the Fujitsu FM series. Ports for the MSX computer line and the Family Computer were released in 1985. dB-Soft produced a sequel with more difficult puzzles called ''King Flappy'' for the benefit of anyone who managed to clear the original 200 levels (or "sides" or "scenes" as the game calls them).
