Boone Station
Boone Station State Historic Site was a Kentucky State Historic Site on Boone's Creek near Athens in Fayette County, Kentucky, USA. Boone's New Station Boone's Station, initially known as Boone's New Station to distinguish it from the fort which is now known as Boonesborough, was the home of Daniel Boone, the famed frontiersman, from 1779 until 1782. Athens at the time was named "Cross Plains" and Boone's son Israel established the fort nearby in 1776. During the American Revolution, Daniel moved to his son Israel's settlement, which consisted at its height of 15 to 20 families. Like other "stations" in frontier Kentucky, Boone's Station probably consisted of a number of cabins which shared a common outside wall to defend against American Indian raids. Unlike Boonesborough, Boone Station saw little action during the Revolutionary War, although a number of Boone's Station residents were killed in the war at nearby locations. Booneville, Kentucky
Booneville is a home rule-class city in Owsley County, Kentucky, in the United States. The population was 168 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Owsley County. It is located at the junction of Kentucky Route 11 and Kentucky Route 30 on the South Fork of the Kentucky River. History The town was originally named Moore's Station after its chief landowner. Battle Of Blue Licks
The Battle of Blue Licks, fought on August 19, 1782, was one of the last battles of the American Revolutionary War. The battle occurred ten months after Lord Cornwallis's surrender at Yorktown, which had effectively ended the war in the east. On a hill next to the Licking River in what is now Robertson County, Kentucky (then Fayette County, Virginia), a force of about 50 Loyalists along with 300 Indian warriors ambushed and routed 182 Kentucky militia, who was partially led by Daniel Boone, the famed frontiersman. Shawnee
The Shawnee ( ) are a Native American people of the Northeastern Woodlands. Their language, Shawnee, is an Algonquian language. Their precontact homeland was likely centered in southern Ohio. In the 17th century, they dispersed through Ohio, Illinois, Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania.
