Bonomi BS.22 Alzavola
The Bonomi BS.22 Alzavola () was a training motor glider, intended to acquaint capable glider pilots with the characteristics of powered aircraft. The sole example was designed and built in Italy in the mid-1930s. Design The BS.22 was evolved from the earlier Bonomi BS.15 Bigiarella glider, though with the addition of a small flat twin engine which drove a pusher propeller. It also had a retractable wheeled conventional undercarriage and a quite different tail. Intended as an inexpensive aircraft, it was Bonomi and Silva's second and last motor glider, the other being the Bonomi BS.19 Alca. An aileron (French for "little wing" or "fin") is a hinged flight control surface usually forming part of the trailing edge of each wing of a fixed-wing aircraft. Ailerons are used in pairs to control the aircraft in roll (or movement around the aircraft's longitudinal axis), which normally results in a change in flight path due to the tilting of the lift vector. Balanced rudders are used by both ships and aircraft. Both may indicate a portion of the rudder surface ahead of the hinge, placed to lower the control loads needed to turn the rudder. In engineering, a longeron and stringer is the load-bearing component of a framework. The term is commonly used in connection with aircraft fuselages and automobile chassis. Longerons are used in conjunction with stringers to form structural frameworks.
