Bonifacio Lacwasan
Bonifacio Calde Lacwasan, Jr. (born September 15, 1958) is a Filipino politician who is the governor of Mountain Province. Background Lacwasan's father was Bonifacio Lacwasan Sr., who served as deputy governor of the now defunct sub-province of Bontoc and a provincial board member of Mountain Province. Career Lacwasan was elevated as Governor of Mountain Province following the death of Leonard Mayaen on March 31, 2016. As the vice governor at the time of Mayaen's death, Lacwasan was sworn in on April 5, 2016, after a period of mourning as per Igorot customs. He served Mayaen's unexpired term until June 30, 2016. Lacwasan was supposed to seek a reelection bid as vice governor for the 2016 elections. The deceased Mayaen, who ran as an independent candidate, was the sole candidate for governor for that election. Gubernatorial elections were held in the Philippines on May 9, 2022. All provinces will elect their provincial governors for three-year terms, who will be inaugurated on June 30, 2022 after their proclamation. Governors that are currently serving their third consecutive terms are prohibited from running as governors (they may run for any other posts however). Mountain Province Provincial Board
The Mountain Province Provincial Board is the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial legislature) of the Philippine province of Mountain Province. The members are elected via plurality-at-large voting: the province is divided into two districts, each having four seats. A voter votes up to four names, with the top four candidates per district being elected. The vice governor is the ''ex officio'' presiding officer, and only votes to break ties. The vice governor is elected via the plurality voting system province-wide. Leonard Mayaen
Leonard Gabas Mayaen (March 14, 1953 – March 31, 2016) was a Filipino politician and lawyer. He served as the governor of Mountain Province from 1998 until 2001 and again from 2010 until his death in 2016. Governor Mayaen died in office from cardiac arrest on March 31, 2016, during his second term. At the time of his death, Governor Mayaen was running unopposed for re-election to a third term in the forthcoming Mountain Province gubernatorial election on May 9, 2016. Early life and education Mayaen was born in Besao, Mountain Province, on March 14, 1953, to a poor family.
