Bonebakker
Bonebakker is the name of a Dutch patrician family. History The ancestor Reynier Dircss Boonebacker originally came from the Duchy of Jülich. He settled as a Draper in Utrecht. Members of the family included, for example, the cashier and/or proprietor of the loan bank in Wijk bij Duurstede, Culemborg, Bergen op Zoom, Buren and Tiel. Adrianus Bonebakker decided to settle in Amsterdam in 1792. He partnered up with Diederik Lodewijk Bennewitz to take over a well-known Dutch gold, silver and jewellery shop in 1802, the Peirolet brothers’ business. Initially under the brothers Peirolet, Bennewitz & Bonebakker name and later as Bennewitz & Bonebakker. The partners decided to part company for business reasons in 1821 and Adrianus and his son Jacques Antoine Bonebakker continued the company under the As Bonebakker & Zoon name. Jacques Antoine Bonebakker
Jacques Antoine Bonebakker (Amsterdam, 16 November 1798 – at that place, 17 March 1868) was a Dutch goldsmith, silversmith and jeweller. Biography Bonebakker was the son of Adrianus Bonebakker (1767-1842) and Elisabeth du Pré (1760-1811). He married Wendelina Elisabeth van Manen (1803-1865) on 23 June 1825. Three daughters and two sons, Willem Christiaan Bonebakker (1827-1906) and Johannes Christiaan Reinier Bonebakker (1829-1883), were born from this marriage. Adrianus Bonebakker
Adrianus Bonebakker (Tiel, 27 May 1767 – Amsterdam, 31 March 1842) was a Dutch goldsmith, silversmith and jeweller. Biography Bonebakker was baptised as the son of Anthonij Bo ebakker (1730-1797) and Maria Cornelia van Oosterhoudt (1734-1820) in Tiel on 31 May 1767. His father was the proprietor of the loan bank in Buren and Tiel. He moved to Amsterdam, where he completed his Master’s in silversmithing in 1792. That same year Bonebakker married Elisabeth du Pré (1760-1811). Seven daughters and a son, Jacques Antoine Bonebakker (1798-1868), were born from this marriage. Diederik Lodewijk Bennewitz
Diederik Lodewijk Bennewitz (20 July 1764 – 21 September 1826), also referred to as Dirk Lodewijk Bennewitz, was a Dutch goldsmith, silversmith and jeweller. Biography Bennewitz was born in Rinteln in 1764 (near Hanover), born as the son of the Master Armourer (sword maker) Johann Ludewich Bennewitz (1734–1789) and Maria Margaretha Wingendorff (1727–1812). Bennewitz left Germany to move to Amsterdam, where he started working for Cornelis Leonard Diemont. He completed his Master’s in silversmithing in 1785 after two years. He married Dorothea Korff (1765–1842) in Amsterdam during that same year. According to Van Benthem, Bennewitz had built up an excellent reputation as a silversmith. He had been asked to represent the Amsterdam Guild in The Hague on several occasions. Crown Of The Netherlands
The current Crown of the Netherlands is of relatively modern origin. In 1813 the new "Sovereign Ruler" of the Netherlands, Prince Willem of Orange, son and heir of the exiled Stadtholder Willem V of Orange, was sworn in as Dutch monarch in Amsterdam. There was no crown present at the ceremony. When, in 1815, Willem was proclaimed " King of the Netherlands" in Brussels, he was not crowned but there was a crown present during his inauguration, a huge and unusable construction of gilded copper, pearls made of pasted fishskin and coloured glass. The four holes in the ring, the peculiar size and the lack of a bill in the accounts that do contain the jeweler's bill for the gilded silver orb and sceptre, suggest that it was the old "funeral crown", used by the Stadtholders in the 18th century and then tied to a cushion on top of the coffin when driven to the vault in Delft. Louis Napoléon Bonaparte (born Luigi Buonaparte; 2 September 1778 – 25 July 1846) was a younger brother of Napoleon I, Emperor of the French. Tiel
Tiel () is a municipality and a town in the middle of the Netherlands. The town is enclosed by the Waal river and the Linge river to the South and the North, and the Amsterdam-Rhine Canal to the East. Tiel comprises the population centres Kapel-Avezaath, Tiel and Wadenoijen. The city was founded in the 5th century CE. Bergen Op Zoom
Bergen op Zoom (; called ''Berrege'' in the local dialect) is a municipality and a city located in the south of the Netherlands. Etymology The city was built on a place where two types of soil meet: sandy soil and marine clay. The sandy soil pushed against the marine clay, accumulating and forming hills over several centuries. People called those hills the ''Brabantse Wal'', literally meaning "ramparts of Brabant". ''Zoom'' refers to the border of these ramparts and ''bergen'' in Dutch means mountains or hills.
