Bondamunda is a part of city of Rourkela and a it's municipality. Railway developments Bondamunda railway station (IR Station code:BNDM) is an important railway station under Chakradharpur division of South Eastern Railway zone of Indian Railways. It is a station on the Tatanagar–Bilaspur section of Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line. It connects Sini, Jharkhand, Sini and Chakardharpur on east direction, Ranchi Junction, Ranchi, Hatia on north direction, Jharsuguda railway station, Jharsuguda on south direction and Barsuan and Bimlagarh on south direction. Asia's second largest railway yard is located here. Bondamunda Railway Station
Bondamunda railway station (station code:- BNDM), located in the Indian state of Odisha, serves Bondamunda and Rourkela in Sundergarh district. History The Nagpur–Asansol main line of Bengal Nagpur Railway came up in 1891 and the cross-country Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line started functioning in 1900. After independence of India, this area saw a lot of activity. In the 1950s when Rourkela Steel Plant was being constructed, a marshalling yard was set up at Bondamunda to cater to the requirements of bulk transportation. New lines were added. A line was constructed to establish a direct link with Ranchi Junction, Ranchi. Bondamunda was connected to Barsuan iron ore mines in 1960 and the line was extended to Kiriburu in 1964. Tatanagar–Bilaspur Section
The Tatanagar–Bilaspur section is part of the Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line and connects in the Indian state of Jharkhand and in Chhattisgarh. Part of one of the major trunk lines in the country, it passes through an industrial-mining area and handles high volumes of freight, particularly coal and iron ore. Jharsuguda railway station is a major railway junction located in the north-western part of the Indian state of Odisha and serves the Jharsuguda district. History Jharsuguda railway station came with the opening of the Nagpur–Asansol main line of Bengal Nagpur Railway in 1891. It became a station on the crosscountry Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line in 1900.
