Canadair
Canadair Ltd. was a Canadian civil and military aircraft manufacturer that operated from 1944 to 1986. In 1986, its assets were acquired by Bombardier Aerospace, the aviation division of Canadian transport conglomerate Bombardier Inc. Canadair's origins lie in the establishment of a factory for Canadian Vickers in the Saint-Laurent borough of Montreal, at Cartierville Airport. It was created as a separate entity by the government of Canada on 11 November, 1944. Throughout much of its existence, it was a subsidiary of various other aircraft manufacturers prior to being nationalized by the Canadian government in 1976. Bombardier Challenger 600 Series
The Bombardier Challenger 600 series is a family of business jets developed by Canadair after a Bill Lear concept, and then produced from 1986 by its new owner, Bombardier Aerospace. At the end of 1975, Canadair began funding the development of LearStar 600, and then bought the design for a wide-cabin business jet in April 1976. On 29 October, the programme was launched, backed by the Canadian federal government, and designed to comply with new Federal Aviation Regulations#Part 25, FAR part 25 standards. In March 1977, it was renamed the Challenger 600 after Bill Lear was phased out, and the original conventional tail was changed for a T-tail among other developments. The first prototype was rolled out on 25 May 1978, and performed its maiden flight on 8 November. The Bombardier Challenger 300 is a range super mid-sized business jet designed and produced by the Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace. Development of the aircraft, originally called the Bombardier Continental, begun during the late 1990s and was formally launched at the 1999 Paris Air Show. The baseline Challenger 300 performed its maiden flight on 14 August 2001 and received its Canadian type approval on 31 May 2003; it commenced commercial operations on 8 January 2004. The majority of sales were to North American-based entities. During the late 2010s, the price of the Challenger 300/350 was lowered substantially to better compete against rivals such as the Embraer Legacy 500.
