The Bolshaya Pera (, also Большая Пёра ''Bolshaya Pyora'') is a river in Amur Oblast, Russia. It is a right tributary of the Zeya. It begins on the Amur–Zeya Plain northwest of the mountains it flows through the town of Shimanovsk and the Vostochny Cosmodrome. It flows into a branch of the Zeya near Svobodny. Pechora (river)
The Pechora (; Komi: Печӧра; Nenets: Санэроˮ яха) is the sixth-longest river in Europe. Flowing from Northwest Russia and into the Arctic Ocean, it lies mostly in the Komi Republic but the northernmost part crosses the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Geography The Pechora is long (a little shorter than the Columbia River) and its basin is , or about the same size as Finland. By mean annual discharge it ranks third in Europe, after the Volga and Danube. Zeya (river)
The Zeya (; from indigenous Evenki word "djee" (blade); zh, 结雅; mnc, m= , Mölendroff: jingkiri bira) is a northern, left tributary of the Amur in Amur Oblast, Russia. It is long, and has a drainage basin of . The average flow of the river is . History The first Russian documented to enter the area was Vassili Poyarkov. Course It rises in the Toko-Stanovik mountain ridge, a part of the Stanovoy Range. The Zeya flows through the Zeya Reservoir, at the junction of the Tukuringra Range and Dzhagdy Range, and joins the Amur near Blagoveshchensk, at the border with China. Regulation of river discharge by Zeya Dam mitigates extremities of river flow down to 5000 m³/s. Amur Oblast
Amur Oblast () is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast), located on the banks of the Amur and Zeya rivers in the Russian Far East. The oblast borders Heilongjiang province of the People's Republic of China (PRC) to the south. Amur–Zeya Plain () is plateau in Amur Oblast, Russia. The climate is continental with features of the monsoon, with cold, snowless winters and moderately warm summers. There are places gold deposits. Shimanovsk
Shimanovsk () is a town in Amur Oblast, Russia, located on the Bolshaya Pyora River (a right-hand tributary of the Zeya), northwest of Blagoveshchensk. Population: History It was founded in conjunction with the construction of the Amur railway in 1910, originally named ''Pyora'' after the river on which it stands. It was renamed ''Gondatti'' in 1914 in honor of the then-governor of Amur Oblast, Nikolay Gondatti. In 1920, it was renamed ''Vladimiro-Shimanovsky'' after Vladimir Shimanovsky, a railway engineer and member of the Red Army who was shot dead in Blagoveshchensk during the Russian Civil War. It was granted town status and its name shortened to Shimanovsk in 1950. Vostochny Cosmodrome
The Vostochny Cosmodrome () is a Russian space launch facility in the Amur Oblast, located above the 51st parallel north in the Russian Far East. It was built to help reduce Russia’s reliance on the Baikonur Cosmodrome which is located on land the Russian government leases from Kazakhstan. The civilian launch facility is operated by Roscosmos, the state corporation responsible for space flights. The facility was established in August 2011 and saw its first launch on 28 April 2016. Svobodny () is a town in Amur Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Zeya River, north of Blagoveshchensk, the administrative center of the oblast.
