Bollekescross
The Flandriencross is a cyclo-cross race held since 2002 in Hamme, Belgium, until 2013 it was known as the Bollekescross but was renamed in 2014 in honour of Greg Van Avermaet who was raised in Hamme and is a multiple times winner of the Flandrien of the Year award. During 2004–2014 the cross was a part of the Cyclo-cross Superprestige, Superprestige. Since 2014 it has been a part of the Cyclo-cross Trophy. Sven Nys
Sven Nys (; born 17 June 1976) is a former professional cyclist competing in cyclo-cross and mountain bike. With two world championships, seven world cups, and over 140 competitive victories, he is considered one of the best cyclo-cross racers of his generation, and remains a prominent figure in cyclo-cross. Apart from cyclo-cross, Nys is also fivefold national mountainbike champion, and has competed in that discipline in two Olympic games. Career overview Early years Born in Bonheiden, Belgium, Nys began racing BMX at the age of 8. He won eight BMX national titles before switching to cyclocross, a more popular sport in Belgium. He won the under-23 world championship in 1997 and 1998, beating another Belgian, Bart Wellens. Nys moved to the elite category in 1998–1999, joining the Dutch team. The 2013–2014 Cyclo-cross Superprestige events and season-long competition took place between 27 October 2013 and 15 February 2014. Sven Nys won his 13th Superprestige, overtaking Niels Albert in the final race of the season. Results Season standings In each race, the top 15 riders gain points, going from 15 points for the winner decreasing by one point per position to 1 point for the rider finishing in 15th position. In case of ties in the total score of two or more riders, the following tie breakers exist: most races started, most races won, best result in the last race. Hamme, Belgium
Hamme () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the settlements of Hamme proper, Kastel Moerzeke, and . In 2018, Hamme had a total population of 24,827. The total area is 40.21 km². The current mayor of Hamme is Herman Vijt, from the CD&V (Christian Democratic) party. Folklore Hamme also has its own legends, most famously that of the " Hamse Wuiten". The people of Hamme are also called ''Hamse Wuitens''. The "Hamse wuiten" is also the main mascot in a street parade at the end of March every year. The inhabitants dress up and build big trucks with giant puppets, making fun of local and national politicians and scandals.
