Bol Kong
Bol Kong (born January 4, 1988) is a former South Sudanese-Canadian professional basketball player who played one year for the Ottawa SkyHawks of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). Early life Kong was born on January 4, 1988, in Kassala, Sudan and moved with his family to Canada as a refugee at age 6. He later received Canadian dual citizenship. College career He played college basketball with four different schools within Canada and the United States: Douglas College, Gonzaga University, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, and St. Francis Xavier University. At Douglas, he was a member of the 2007–08 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) championship team and he was named to the All-Tournament team. Kong was also named All-Canadian at NAIT. Forward (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. 2013 NBL Canada Draft
The 2013 NBL Canada Draft was held on August 19, 2013, at Hilton Suites Conference Centre & Spa in Markham, Ontario. A total of 29 players were selected, in three rounds. Alex Johnson was selected with the first overall pick by the Ottawa SkyHawks, becoming the first Canadian to be the top pick in the NBL Canada Draft. Johnson did not appear for the SkyHawks, as he was traded to the Mississauga Power for Bol Kong. Mississauga Power
The Mississauga Power were a Canadian professional basketball team based in Mississauga, Ontario, that competed in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). Established in as the Oshawa Power, they played in the Central Division. The Oshawa team began play in the inaugural NBL Canada season, along with the London Lightning, Moncton Miracles, and Summerside Storm and three Premier Basketball League (PBL) teams. The Power were relatively unsuccessful in their four years of existence. They had a losing record every season and a combined record of 17–55 since relocating to Mississauga. The team also had six different coaches during the span. In 2012, Oshawa's Brandon Robinson led the league in scoring and was named Rookie of the Year.
