Taldykol (lake)
Taldykol () is a lake in Bulandy District, Akmola Region, Kazakhstan.''Atameken Geographical Encyclopedia''. Almaty 2011 ISBN 9965-893-70-5 The lake is located by Vorobyovka (Akmola Region), Vorobyovka village, to the southwest of Makinsk, the district capital. Geography Taldykol is a fluvial lake of the Ishim (river), Ishim basin. It is located close to the right bank of the Boksyk river, a tributary of the Kalkutan. To the west there is a lobe joined to the main lake by a sound in the western shore. There is a channel at the southeastern end of the lake connecting with the Boksyk. The channel has a dam that was built in 1953, at the time of the Kazakh SSR, to regulate the water level. The southwestern and northeastern lakeshores are gently sloping, the remainder are steep. Akmola Region
Akmola Region (, ; ) is a centrally located regions of Kazakhstan, region of Kazakhstan. It was known as Tselinograd Oblast during Soviet Union, Soviet rule. Its capital is Kökşetau. The national capital, Astana, is enclosed by the region, but is politically separate from Aqmola Region. The region's population is 715,000; Kökşetau's is 157,000. Some gold mining, gold and coal mining occur in the area. Geography The area of the region is 146,200 square kilometers.
