Boherbue Comprehensive School
Boherbue Comprehensive School is a secondary school in Boherbue, County Cork, Ireland. History This school was opened in 1973 as a co-educational, non-selective post-primary school. The term 'comprehensive' was current at that time and the curriculum of the school combined what were formally regarded as the 'secondary' subjects with the 'technical' subjects. This was seen as giving a broad range of subjects under which pupils with very varying degrees of aptitude, ability and skills could prosper. Sport Gaelic football is the most popular sport within the school and it competes in the All-Ireland Vocational Schools Championship. In 1992 the school were runners-up in the All-Ireland Senior Vocational School Championship and in 1998 it won the All-Ireland Junior Vocational School Championship. Boherbue (post office spelling) or Boherboy (Ordnance Survey spelling) () is a village in north-west County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Gaelic football (; short name '')'', commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA, or football, is an Irish team sport. A form of football, it is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or palming the ball into the other team's Goal (sport), goal (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goal and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). All-Ireland Vocational Schools Championship
The All-Ireland Vocational Schools Championship was a Gaelic Athletic Association football and hurling competition. There are two levels of competition. Individual schools compete for county, provincial and All-Ireland competitions. County teams selected from schools within each county also competed for provincial and All-Ireland competitions. The final intercounty championships in both codes were played in 2012, while the last schools championships were played in 2013. Tony Buckley
Tony Buckley (born 8 October 1980) is a former Irish rugby union player who played Prop. He was one of the heaviest men playing professional rugby, weighing in at 21 st 10 lbs or 138 kilograms (305 lbs). He wore size 16 boots which had to be custom made for him in Germany. Michael Moynihan (born 12 January 1968) is an Irish Fianna Fáil politician who has served as Minister of State at the Department of Education and Youth since January 2025 and a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Cork North-West constituency since the 1997 general election. Donncha O'Connor
Donncha O'Connor (born 25 April 1981) is an Irish Gaelic footballer who played as a full-forward for the Cork senior team. He joined the team during the 2006 championship and immediately became a regular member of the starting fifteen. O'Connor is Cork's all-time top scorer. He has won one All-Ireland winners' medal, four Munster winners' medals and three National League winners' medal. He has ended up as an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions.
