Bohdan Andriiv
Bohdan Andriiv (; born 12 August 1969) is a Ukrainian politician and mayor of Uzhhorod since 2015. During the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election, 2019 Ukrainian elections, Andriiv was a candidate for People's Deputies of Ukraine, People's Deputy under the "Opposition Bloc" coalition, but was unsuccessful. Andriiv was formerly a member of the pro-Russian Party of Regions. Early life and education Bohdan Andriiv was born on August 12, 1969, in the village of Koniukhiv, Lviv Oblast in Soviet Ukraine. In 1986, Andriiv graduated from secondary school in the village of Duliby, Hrabovets-Duliby rural hromada, Stryi Raion, Lviv Oblast, Duliby. From 1986 to 1987, he worked as a junior medical worker at the Stryi Raion Hospital. After that, he served in the Soviet Army for two years, ending in 1989. 2015 Ukrainian Local Elections
On 25 October 2015 local elections took place in Ukraine. The elections were conducted a little over a year since the 2014 snap local elections, which were only held throughout parts of the country. A second round of voting for the election of mayors in cities with more than 90,000 residents where no candidate gained more than 50% of the votes were held on 15 November 2015. Because of the ongoing conflict in East Ukraine and the February 2014 annexation of Crimea by Russia, local elections were not conducted throughout all of the administrative subdivisions of Ukraine. The highest number of seats were won by the Petro Poroshenko Bloc "Solidarity", Fatherland and Our Land parties, followed by the Opposition Bloc and the Radical Party. The ( ; , ''hrn''; sign: ₴; code: UAH) has been the national currency of Ukraine since 2 September 1996. The hryvnia is divided into 100 kopiykas (). It is named after a measure of weight used in Kievan Rus'. Etymology The currency of Kievan Rus' in the 11th century was the ''grivna''. The word is thought to derive from the Slavic ''griva''; which compares with the Ukrainian, Russian, Bulgarian, and Serbo-Croatian word (''griva'', meaning "mane"). It might have indicated something valuable to be worn around the neck, that was usually made of silver or gold, and may be related to the Bulgarian and Serbian term ''grivna'' (, "bracelet").
