Priests are a post-punk band from Washington D.C. Formed in 2012, the band is composed of Katie Alice Greer (vocals), Daniele Daniele (drums), and G.L. Jaguar (guitar). Strong proponents of DIY ethic, Priests have autonomously released three EPs through their independently run label Sister Polygon Records, as well as tapes and singles from acts such as Downtown Boys, Snail Mail, Shady Hawkins, and other local D.C. bands. In an interview with the Diamondback, guitarist G.L. expressed their commitment to "do it yourself" approaches in creating exposure for corporately marginalized music, "It's important to try and make safe and supportive art spaces in communities that are very much community oriented." Don Giovanni Records is an independent record label originally specializing in punk rock from the New Brunswick, New Jersey music scene but eventually working with a variety of artists from different genres. History Don Giovanni Records was founded by Joe Steinhardt and Zach Gajewski while they were living in Boston in 2004. The label is best known for developing artists like Screaming Females, Mitski, Waxahatchee, Laura Stevenson, and Moor Mother, as well as fostering a geographically diverse community of artists, including Mal Blum, Native American Music Award “Best Artist” winner Keith Secola, Holy Modal Rounders founder, Peter Stampfel, Lavender Country, Swamp Dogg, Alice Bag, and comedian Chris Gethard. Sister Polygon Records was an independent record label run by the band Priests. The label was based in Washington, DC, and released music by Priests, Downtown Boys, Pinkwash, Knife Wife, and Shady Hawkins. History Priests created the label in 2012 in order to release their first single, the "Radiation/Personal Planes" 7-inch. The second release was a cassette of the New York feminist punk band Shady Hawkins' 2013 album ''Dead To Me''. The members of Priests ran the label out of their houses and apartments. The label was interested in offering a platform to artists who might not have another way to get their music out.
