Bodi White
Mack A. "Bodi" White, Jr. (born April 7, 1956) is an American politician from Louisiana who represented District 6 in the Louisiana State Senate from 2012 to 2024. A Republican, White previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives for District 64 between 2004 and 2012. Electoral history White was first elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 2003, succeeding Tony Perkins. In 2011, White successfully ran for the Louisiana State Senate's 6th district, narrowly defeating Exxon executive Mike Mannino in the first round. In 2016, White ran for East Baton Rouge Parish East Baton Rouge Parish (; ) is the most populous List of parishes in Louisiana, parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Sharon Weston Broome
Sharon Weston Broome (born October 1, 1956) is a Louisiana politician who served as mayor-president of Baton Rouge, Louisiana between 2017 and 2025. She was elected mayor-president in a runoff election held on December 10, 2016. Broome is the first African-American woman to serve as mayor-president. Broome previously served in the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1992 to 2005, and in the Louisiana State Senate, representing the 15th district from 2005 to 2016. From 2008 to 2016, Broome was the President Pro Tempore of the state Senate. In 2011, she ran unopposed and was elected to her second full Senate term. In 2024, Broome was elected as president of the National League of Cities. Shortly afterward, Broome was defeated for a third term, losing to Sid Edwards, a Republican who campaigned on concerns about Baton Rouge's swelling murder rate as well as the incorporation of a new city, St. George, in a previously unincorporated part of the parish during Broome's tenure. ...
