Bodenwerder-Polle
Bodenwerder-Polle is a ''Samtgemeinde'' ("collective municipality") in the district of Holzminden, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Its seat is in the town Bodenwerder. It was formed on 1 January 2010 by the merger of the former ''Samtgemeinden'' Bodenwerder and Polle. Bodenwerder
The ''Münchhausenstadt'' Bodenwerder is a municipality in Holzminden district, Lower Saxony, Germany. It lies on the river Weser and is best known as the birthplace and residence of Baron von Münchhausen. Geography Bodenwerder is located in the Holzminden district, Lower Saxony, Germany. It lies on the river Weser, upstream from Hamelin, at a point where the river has carved a gap in the hills. History The settlement was first granted the status of a town in 1287 by Ritter Heinrich II von Homburg. There was already an important bridge over the river here in 1289, which connected Hameln-Paderborn to Einbeck-Frankfurt. Around 1340 one of the Homburg Bodos was Lord of the Manor and originated a planned town with walls and towers. From him derives the town's name, which means "Bodo's Eyot". In 1750, Baron von Münchhausen, who was born in Bodenwerder, retired to his estate here and told his famous stories to his friends. He died in 1797 and is buried here. His house was acqu ... Kirchbrak is a municipality in the district of Holzminden, in Lower Saxony, Germany. The municipality lies only a few kilometers east of Bodenwerder. Through Kirchbrak flows a small river called Lenne, a tributary of the Weser. Holzminden () is a district in Lower Saxony, Germany, with the town of Holzminden as its administrative capital. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts of Hamelin-Pyrmont, Hildesheim and Northeim, and by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (districts of Höxter and Lippe). History The district was established in 1833 within the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg. It was moved to the Prussian Province of Hanover as part of a territorial exchange in 1942. The last territorial modification was in 1974. Geography The district is located in the Weserbergland mountains, roughly between Hamelin and Göttingen. The Weser River forms the southwestern border of the district and runs through its northern parts.
