Bobsled Records
Bobsled Records was a pop music-focused record label based in Aurora, Illinois, active from 1997 to 2002. History Bobsled Records was co-founded in 1997 by Bob Salerno and his friend Jeff Slay. The first band to be signed to the label was Adventures in Stereo, which was followed by the Chicago-based band Chamber Strings and the French/German duo Stereo Total, among other bands. Velvet Crush
Velvet Crush is an American power pop band from Providence, Rhode Island, United States, that achieved prominence in indie-rock circles in the early- and mid-1990s. The band broke up in 1996 but re-formed in 1998 and have continued to record, releasing their most recent album in 2004. Vocalist/bassist Paul Chastain and drummer Ric Menck are the band's core members, having previously worked together as Choo Choo Train, Bag-O-Shells, and The Springfields, and they share singing and songwriting duties. Guitarist Jeffrey Underhill (of Honeybunch) played on the band's first three albums, ''In the Presence of Greatness'', ''Teenage Symphonies to God'', and ''Heavy Changes''. ''The Pitch'' is a free alternative newspaper distributed in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, including Lawrence and Topeka, Kansas. While known for its investigative stories of the local government, it also covers local sports stories, restaurants, events, visual art, and concerts. It was started in July 1980 as the ''Penny Pitch'', which was a monthly handout at Penny Lane Record Shop in the Westport area of Kansas City. The Waxwings
The Waxwings were an American rock band, formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The band's lineup comprised Dean Fertita on vocals and guitar, James Edmunds on drums and percussion, and Kevin Peyok on bass guitar. Brendan Benson filled in on guitar for touring, following the departure of guitarist/vocalist Dominic Romano. They released three full-length albums: ''Low to the Ground'' in 2000, ''Shadows Of...'' in 2002, and ''Let's Make Our Descent'' in 2004. Stereo Total was a Berlin-based multilingual, French-German duo which comprised Françoise Cactus (born Françoise Van Hove and formerly co-leader of the West Berlin band Les Lolitas) and Brezel (' pretzel') Göring (aka Friedrich von Finsterwalde, born Friedrich Ziegler, ex-Haunted Henschel, Sigmund Freud Experience).
