''Bobby Vee Sings Your Favorites'' is the debut album by American singer Bobby Vee, released in September 1960 by Liberty Records. It features his first big hit "Devil or Angel", and a mirror hit " Since I Met You Baby". They peaked at Nos. 6 and 81, respectively, on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles chart in the United States. It contains a dozen ballads, consisting of old standards and newer love songs and providing a good look at popular ballads during that period. The album was released on compact disc by Beat Goes On in 1999 as tracks 1 through 12 on a pairing of two albums on one CD with tracks 12 through 24 consisting of Vee's 1961 album, ''Bobby Vee''. Reel To Reel labels included this CD in a box set entitled ''Eight Classic Albums Plus Bonus Singles'' and was released on October 4, 2019. Bobby Vee
Robert Thomas Velline (April 30, 1943 – October 24, 2016), known professionally as Bobby Vee, was an American singer who was a teen idol in the early 1960s and also appeared in films. According to '' Billboard'' magazine, he had thirty-eight Hot 100 chart hits, ten of which reached the Top 20. He had six gold singles in his career. Early life Vee was born in Fargo, North Dakota, to Sydney Ronald Velline (a chef, pianist and fiddle player) and Saima Cecelia Tapanila, in a family of Norwegian and Finnish heritage. "Just a Dream" is a 1958 single by Jimmy Clanton and His Rockets released on the Ace Records label. The actual record-label states that it was written by Clanton and Cosimo Matassa (Matassa was Clanton's manager), but other sources state that Clanton was the sole composer. Original words written by Regina F Phillips and sent to Lew Tobin which were copyrighted. Regina never received credit for the song lyrics. Apparently Lew Tobin was a bit of a song shark as noted by Randy Johnson. James Kennedy (20 July 1902 – 6 April 1984) was a British songwriter. He was predominantly a lyricist, putting words to existing music such as "Teddy Bears' Picnic" and "My Prayer" or co-writing with composers like Michael Carr (composer), Michael Carr, Wilhelm Grosz and Nat Simon. "My Prayer" is a 1939 popular song with music by salon violinist Georges Boulanger and lyrics by Carlos Gomez Barrera and Jimmy Kennedy. It was originally written by Boulanger with the title ''Avant de mourir'' (Before dying) in 1926. Kennedy added the lyrics for this version in 1939. Glenn Miller recorded the song that year for a number two hit and the Ink Spots' version featuring Bill Kenny reached number three, as well, that year. It has been recorded many times since, but the biggest hit version was a doo-wop rendition in 1956 by the Platters, whose single release reached number one on the ''Billboard'' Top 100 in the summer, and ranked four for the year. Whaley Thomas Cartey better known as Ric Cartey (18 January 1937 – 5 August 2009) was an American rockabilly musician and songwriter. He was born in born in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia, United States. He formed a duo with guitarist Charlie Broome performing locally. Ric and Charlie's band was called the Jiv-A-Tones. He was most famously a co-writer with Carole Joyner of the hit "Young Love (1956 song), Young Love", a popular song published in 1956.
