Although not released as a single, it reached number 36 on the ''Billboard'' Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. History "Bobby Jean" was one of the last songs from the album to be recorded, and was considered a musical breakthrough for Springsteen during the recording, with its more accented rhythm and near dance groove. Marsh, Dave. ''Glory Days: Bruce Springsteen in the 1980s''. Pantheon Books, 1987. . p. 168. The title character's name is somewhat gender ambiguous,Rob Kirkpatrick, ''The Words and Music of Bruce Springsteen'', Greenwood Publishing Group, 2006. p. 101. allowing for various interpretations. Bruce Springsteen
Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen (born September 23, 1949) is an American singer and songwriter. He has released 21 studio albums, most of which feature his backing band, the E Street Band. Originally from the Jersey Shore, he is an originator of heartland rock, combining mainstream rock musical styles with narrative songs about working class American life. Nicknamed "the Boss", his career has spanned six decades. Springsteen is known for his poetic, socially conscious lyrics and energetic stage performances, sometimes lasting up to four hours. In 1973, Springsteen released his first two albums, ''Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J.'' and '' The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle'', neither of which earned him a large audience. He changed his style and reached worldwide popularity with '' Born to Run'' in 1975. It was followed by '' Darkness on the Edge of Town'' (1978) and '' The River'' (1980), which topped the US ''Billboard'' 200 chart. After the solo recording, '' ...

Tunnel Of Love Express
The Tunnel of Love Express was a concert tour by Bruce Springsteen and featuring The E Street Band along with The Horns of Love that took place in 1988. It was followed by a four and a half months of the release of Springsteen's October 1987 album, '' Tunnel of Love''. Considerably shorter in duration than most Springsteen tours before or since, it played limited engagements in most cities, leading to the tickets being in great demand. Shows were held in arenas in the U.S. and stadiums in Europe and included a historic performance in East Berlin. Coming on the heels of the massively successful '' Born in the U.S.A. Tour'', the Tunnel of Love Express was designed to disorient Springsteen's audiences. A theatrical entrance began the show, a full horn section appeared, band members were rearranged from their customary positions, and on-stage spontaneity was kept to a minimum. Set lists were unusually static, and many of Springsteen's most popular concert numbers were omitted ...

Phish performed a traditional 2-set headlining spot on Sunday night as well as a late night set on Friday night. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band performed Saturday. Working On A Dream Tour
The Working on a Dream Tour was a concert tour by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, which began in April 2009 and ended in November 2009. It followed the late January 2009 release of the album ''Working on a Dream''. This was the first full E Street Band tour without founding member Danny Federici, who died during the previous tour in 2008, and the final tour for founding member Clarence Clemons, who died in 2011. The tour was shorter than a typical Springsteen outing, but for the first time in his career, it placed an emphasis on performing at music festivals, especially in Europe. Even more unlike all his previous tours, the Working on a Dream Tour featured little of his new album. Instead, several trends from the latter stages of the previous year's Magic Tour (Bruce Springsteen), Magic Tour were carried forward: a focus on topical content, this time the late-2000s recession; a repetition of some of the stage raps and antics; and most visibly, continuation of a 'signs' s ...

Devils & Dust Tour
The Devils & Dust Tour was a 2005 concert tour featuring Bruce Springsteen performing alone on stage on a variety of instruments. It followed the release of his 2005 album ''Devils & Dust''. The tour was named the Top Small Venue Tour of 2005 by the Billboard Touring Awards. Approach The ''Devils & Dust'' album, while not using the E Street Band as a whole and being in the more acoustic, somber vein of his earlier ''Nebraska (album), Nebraska'' and ''The Ghost of Tom Joad'' works, was not without (sometimes substantial) instrumentation and arrangements. Thus when Springsteen began rehearsals for the upcoming tour in Asbury Park's Paramount Theater Asbury Park, Paramount Theatre, he experimented with a small band line-up. Although the rehearsals were closed, a dozen or two diehard Springsteen fans would stand outside the theatre each day on the chilly early spring boardwalk, listening through walls to try to hear what was being played, a practice that had been going on since th ...

The Rising Tour
The Rising Tour was a lengthy, worldwide, top-grossing concert tour featuring Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band that took place in arenas and stadiums over 2002 and 2003. It followed the release of their 2002 album '' The Rising''. Itinerary Tour preparations began in late July and early August 2002 with closed and then semi-open rehearsals, and then several public rehearsal shows, at Asbury Park, New Jersey's Convention Hall, as well as a highly advertised early morning promotional appearance there on NBC's ''The Today Show''. He also appeared on ''Late Night with David Letterman'' on CBS, NBC's ''Saturday Night Live'', and ''Nightline'' on ABC. His ''Nightline'' interview was one of the most revealing of his career. Usually a very private person, Springsteen agreed to all of these appearances as part of the biggest promotional effort of his career for the tour and its album. The first leg of the tour formally began on August 7, 2002 with an opening show in Springsteen ...
