Bobbie Baby, Inc. is an American infant formula company based in Heath, Ohio. It was founded by Laura Modi and Sarah Hardy. History Bobbie was founded in 2018 by Laura Modi, an Irish-American who was working as an executive at Airbnb. The idea behind the company came from her difficulty finding suitable baby formula to feed her first infant. Sarah Hardy, a co-worker from Airbnb, also helped establish Bobbie in 2019. Bobbie's infant formula was made with organic ingredients and did not use corn syrup, palm oil, or soy. Modi named the company ''Bobbie'' after her infant daughter's pronunciation of the word "bottle." In May 2023, the company released its second product, a formula it calls “organic gentle”, designed for fussy babies. Laura Modi is an Irish-American executive and the co-founder and CEO of Bobbie. Before Bobbie, she was director of hospitality at Airbnb. Early career Modi began her career at Portwest, a workwear and personal protective equipment business run by her family and founded by her great-grandfather in Ireland. Bobbie Modi originally had the idea to found an organic infant formula company in 2016, when she was seeking formula to feed her first child that excluded palm oil and corn syrup from the ingredients. High Fructose Corn Syrup
High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), also known as glucose–fructose, isoglucose, and glucose–fructose syrup, is a sweetener made from corn starch. As in the production of conventional corn syrup, the starch is broken down into glucose by enzymes. To make HFCS, the corn syrup is further processed by D-xylose isomerase to convert some of its glucose into fructose. HFCS was first marketed in the early 1970s by the Clinton Corn Processing Company, together with the Japanese Agency of Industrial Science and Technology, where the enzyme was discovered in 1965. As a sweetener, HFCS is often compared to granulated sugar, but manufacturing advantages of HFCS over sugar include that it is cheaper. Heath is a city in Licking County, Ohio, United States, and is located approximately 30 mi (48 km) east of Columbus. The population was 10,412 at the 2020 census.
