Bob Troughton
Robert Troughton (17 June 1904 – 17 August 1988) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1930s. Troughton played as both a wingman and rover, also at times used up forward. He started his career at Broken Hill Football League club North Broken Hill before moving to Adelaide to play for South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club West Torrens, topping their goalkicking in 1928 and 1929. Broken Hill Football League
The AFL Broken Hill (formerly, Broken Hill Football League) is an Australian rules football competition based in the Broken Hill region of New South Wales, Australia. Although located in the state of New South Wales the league is an affiliated member of the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). The Broken Hill Football League is in the Murray Mallee Barrier Zone in the South Australian Country Football Championships. West Torrens Football Club
West Torrens Football Club was an Australian rules football club that competed in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) from 1897 to 1990. In 1991, the club merged with neighbouring Woodville Football Club to form the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles. With the proposed introduction of representative Districts for clubs in the SAFA the Native Club in 1896 derived its name from Electoral district of West Torrens and based itself in the western suburbs of Adelaide, around the western reaches of the River Torrens. Club history A precursor club in the district was the West Adelaide Football Club (1878–1887) that was founded in 1878 as the West Torrens and dissolved after just one season in the SAFA after changing its name to West Adelaide and wearing colours of Red, White and Blue in 1887. 1930 VFL Season
The 1930 VFL season was the 34th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 3 May until 11 October, and comprised an 18-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top four clubs. The premiership was won by the Collingwood Football Club for the ninth time and fourth time consecutively, after it defeated by 30 points in the 1930 VFL Grand Final.
