Bob Stewart (television)
Bob Stewart (born Isidore L. Steinberg; August 27, 1920 – May 4, 2012) was an American television game show producer. He was active in the TV industry from 1956 until his retirement in 1991. Stewart is known for creating some of the most popular game shows for Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions. These shows include ''To Tell the Truth'', ''Password (American game show), Password'', and ''The Price Is Right (U.S. game show), The Price Is Right.'' His biggest success as an independent producer was the ''Pyramid (game show), Pyramid'' series, starting with ''The $10,000 Pyramid'' in 1973. ''The Price Is Right (U.S. game show), The Price Is Right'' and ''To Tell the Truth'', both created by Stewart, are the only game shows to be seen nationally in either first-run network or syndication airings in the US in every decade from the 1950s onward. Let's Make A Deal
''Let's Make a Deal'' (also known as ''LMAD'') is a television game show that originated in the United States in 1963 and has since been produced in many countries throughout the world. The program was created and produced by Stefan Hatos and Monty Hall, the latter serving as its game show host, host for nearly 30 years. The format of ''Let's Make a Deal'' involves selected members of the studio audience, referred to as "traders", making deals with the host. In most cases, a trader will be offered something of value and given a choice of whether to keep it or exchange it for a different item. The program's defining game mechanism is that the other item is hidden from the trader until that choice is made. The trader thus does not know if they are getting something of equal or greater value or a prize that is referred to as a "zonk", an item purposely chosen to be of little or no value to the trader. You're Putting Me On
''You're Putting Me On!'' is an NBC game show in which celebrities tried to communicate the identities of famous people through odd and interesting clues. Bill Leyden was the original host, with Larry Blyden taking over halfway through the run. The program was broadcast from June 30 to December 26, 1969, at 1:30 pm. Gameplay Three teams, composed of a "regular" celebrity and a guest celebrity, were each given 100 points to start the game. Each team played for a member of the studio audience. In each round, Leyden began by listing four famous people as possible answers. One member of each team was given a card with one of those famous people on it, and that player would have to assume the identity of that famous person (more than one team could have the same famous person). In other words, they would be "putting on" a different identity. Larry Blyden
Ivan Lawrence Blieden (June 23, 1925 – June 6, 1975), known professionally as Larry Blyden, was an American actor, stage producer and director, and game show host. He made his Broadway stage debut in 1948 and went on to appear in numerous productions on and off Broadway. In 1972, he won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance in the revival of '' A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'' which he also produced. That same year, he became the host of the syndicated revival version of ''What's My Line?'' At the time of his death, Blyden was slated to host a new game show, '' Showoffs''. He died of injuries sustained in a single-car accident while vacationing in Morocco on June 6, 1975. ''Personality'' is an American game show produced by Bob Stewart and hosted by Larry Blyden which ran on NBC from July 3, 1967, to September 26, 1969, at 11:00 AM, EST. The series was produced by Filmways. Bill Wendell, then on the NBC staff, announced the show. Game play A panel of three celebrities, each playing for a member of the studio audience or home viewer, tried to predict how other celebrities answered a series of questions asked in pre-recorded interviews. Round 1 In the first round, two of the panelists were given three possible responses for each question asked to the third and after they chose, the correct answer was shown. Jack Whitaker
John Francis Whitaker (May 18, 1924 – August 18, 2019) was an American sportscaster who worked for both CBS and ABC. Whitaker was a decorated army veteran of World War II. He fought in the Normandy Campaign and was wounded by an artillery strike. Biography Early life and career Whitaker was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Northeast Catholic High School in 1941 and Saint Joseph's University in 1947, Whitaker began his broadcasting career at WPAM in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. In 1950, he moved to WCAU where he did local weather broadcasts as well as other local announcing duties. He continued to work for CBS' Philadelphia station while beginning to take assignments for the network. ''The Face Is Familiar'' is an American game show which aired in color on CBS as a summer replacement show from May 7 to September 3, 1966. The show was hosted by Jack Whitaker and featured celebrity guests including Bob Crane, Dick Van Patten, Mel Brooks and June Lockhart. ''Eye Guess'' is an American game show created by Bob Stewart and hosted by Bill Cullen that aired on NBC from January 3, 1966, to September 26, 1969. The game combined a general knowledge quiz with a ''Concentration''-style memory element, in which the answers were shown to the players and their recall of their positions was tested. This was the first game show by Bob Stewart Productions. Stewart, a former producer for Goodson-Todman Productions, created this series and packaged it with Filmways. Don Pardo announced for the first year, after which Jack Clark replaced him for the rest of the run. The show used the Al Hirt tune " Sugar Lips" as its theme song. Gil Fates
Joseph Gilbert Fates (September 29, 1914 - May 1, 2000) was an American television producer. Early years Fates was a native of Newark, New Jersey, who studied economics at the University of Virginia. In the summer after he graduated he was an actor at the Barter Theatre in Virginia. Career Fates went from the Barter Theatre to New York. Broadway productions in which he performed included ''The Hill Between'' (1938), ''Where Do We Go From Here?'' (1938), ''The American Way'' (1939), and ''Stop Press'' (1939). Chester Feldman
Chester Feldman (January 8, 1926 – May 25, 1997) was an American producer of game shows born in The Bronx, New York, who was also associated with Mark Goodson Productions. Biography Before beginning his career in television, Feldman served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he attended the University of Missouri where he earned a degree in journalism. Feldman first began his career as a radio producer. Frank Wayne (born Rocco Francis Rossi Jr.; July 9, 1917 – March 18, 1988) was an American game show producer and host. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was also associated with Mark Goodson Productions. Biography Wayne was the original executive producer of the current incarnation of ''The Price Is Right'' from its 1972 premiere until his death in 1988. He created the show's most popular pricing game, Plinko, and many others. Both of his sons, Philip Wayne Rossi and Mark Wayne, also worked on ''Price''. ''Million Dollar Password'' is an updated version of the game show ''Password'' on CBS, which was hosted by Regis Philbin and ran from June 1, 2008, to June 14, 2009. FremantleMedia produced the program. Production and broadcast history ''Million Dollar Password'' premiered June 1, 2008, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. The initial order of the series consisted of six hour-long episodes, each comprising two games. These six episodes were taped in New York City's Kaufman Astoria Studios in March 2008.
