Bob Stacey
Bob Stacey ( 1950-2022) was an Oregon attorney and leader in land use and transportation planning. On his death, Congressman Earl Blumenauer stated that "Oregon just lost the most important person that most people have never heard of". In a number of roles in state and local government, Stacey was instrumental in defining land use law and policy within the state of Oregon. Early life A native of Portland, he graduated from Parkrose High School. He later earned a Bachelor's in political science from Reed College and a law degree from University of Oregon. Early work in land use planning In the 1970s, Stacey was one of the original staff attorneys of 1000 Friends of Oregon, founded after the Oregon Land Conservation and Development Act of 1973 to advocate for state-wide land use planning. Rajneesh Movement
The Rajneesh movement are people inspired by the Indian mystic Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (1931–1990), also known as Osho, particularly initiated disciples who are referred to as "neo-sannyasins". They used to be known as ''Rajneeshees'' or "Orange People" because of the orange and later red, maroon and pink clothes they used from 1970 until 1985. Members of the movement are sometimes called ''Oshoites'' in the Indian press. The movement was controversial in the 1970s and 1980s, due to the founder's hostility, first to Hindu morality in India, and later to Christian morality in the United States. In the Soviet Union, the movement was banned as being contrary to "positive aspects of Indian culture and to the aims of the youth protest movement in Western countries". Bob Stacey Crossing (formerly Gideon Overcrossing) is a pedestrian bridge in southeast Portland, Oregon's Hosford-Abernethy Hosford-Abernethy is a neighborhood in the inner Southeast section of Portland, Oregon. It borders Buckman and Sunnyside on the north, Richmond on the east, Brooklyn and Creston-Kenilworth on the south, and (across the Willamette River) Downto ... neighborhood, in the United States. Meningioma
Meningioma, also known as meningeal tumor, is typically a slow-growing tumor that forms from the meninges, the membranous layers surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms depend on the location and occur as a result of the tumor pressing on nearby tissue. Many cases never produce symptoms. Occasionally seizures, dementia, trouble talking, vision problems, one sided weakness, or loss of bladder control may occur. Risk factors include exposure to ionizing radiation such as during radiation therapy, a family history of the condition, and neurofibromatosis type 2. Barbara Kay Roberts (née Hughey; born December 21, 1936) is an American politician from the state of Oregon. A native of the state, she served as the 34th Governor of Oregon from 1991 to 1995. She was the first woman to serve as Oregon governor, and the only woman elected to that office until 2016. A Democrat, Roberts was also the first woman to serve as majority leader in the Oregon House of Representatives. In 1985, a group of high-ranking Rajneeshees, followers of the Indian mystic Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (later known as Osho), conspired to assassinate Charles Turner, the then-United States Attorney for the District of Oregon. 1984 Rajneeshee Bioterror Attack
In 1984, 751 people suffered food poisoning in The Dalles, Oregon, United States, due to the deliberate contamination of salad bars at ten local restaurants with ''Salmonella''. A group of prominent followers of Rajneesh (later known as Osho) led by Ma Anand Sheela had hoped to incapacitate the voting population of the city so that their own candidates would win the 1984 Wasco County elections. The incident was the first and is still the single largest bioterrorist attack in U.S. history. Rajneesh's followers had previously gained political control of Antelope, Oregon, as they were based in the nearby intentional community of Rajneeshpuram, and they now sought election to two of the three seats on the Wasco County Circuit Court that were up for election in November 1984.
