Bob Smith (Australian Politician)
Robert Frederick Smith (born 22 May 1948) is an Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Council from 1999 to 2010, representing South Eastern Metropolitan Region. Smith was born in England, and attended St Brendan's Public school 1958–63 and Salisbury High School in Brisbane, Queensland, 1963–65. In 1965 he became a permanent member of the Royal Australian Navy, where he remained until 1980, when he became the plant operator of a steel mill. In 1989, he became a union leader. Smith was elected to the Legislative Council in the 1999 Victorian state election, representing Chelsea Province. When the Legislative Council was reformed in 2006, he won preselection for the third position on the Labor ticket for South Eastern Metropolitan, and was elected. The Victorian Labor Party, officially known as the Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch) and commonly referred to simply as Victorian Labor, is the Victoria (Australia), Victorian state branch of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Monica Gould
Monica Mary Gould (born 5 May 1957) is a former Australian politician. She was a Australian Labor Party (Victorian Branch), Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Council between September 1993 and November 2006, representing Doutta Galla Province. Gould was born in Melbourne, and finished her secondary studies at a technical college in the suburb of Macleod, Victoria, Macleod. She became involved in the Manufacturing Grocers Association trade union, which later merged with the National Union of Workers. In 1980, she became its General Vice-president – a position which she held until her election to parliament. She was also a member of the Australian Council of Trade Unions executive between 1991 and 1993. Bruce Norman Atkinson (born 15 May 1953) is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the Victorian Legislative Council since October 1992, representing Koonung Province from 1992 to 2006 and Eastern Metropolitan Region from 2006 to 2022. He was the President of the Legislative Council from 2010 to 2018. Personal affairs Atkinson was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and attended Mitcham High School. Western Metropolitan Region is one of the eight electoral regions of Victoria, Australia, which elects five members to the Victorian Legislative Council (also referred to as the upper house) by proportional representation.
