Bob Hensgens is an American politician serving as a member of the Louisiana State Senate from the 26th district. Elected in 2018, he was previously a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 2011 to 2018. Education Hensgens attended Vermilion Catholic High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Career Since 2009, Hensgens has worked as an administrator at the Gueydan Memorial Guest Home in Gueydan, Louisiana. He also served as the major of Gueydan from 2007 to 2011. Hensgens represented the 47th district in the Louisiana House of Representatives from April 2011 to December 2018. Louisiana's 26th State Senate District
Louisiana's 26th State Senate district is one of 39 districts in the Louisiana State Senate. It has been represented by Republican Bob Hensgens since a 2018 special election to succeed fellow Republican Jonathan Perry. Geography District 26 covers all of Vermilion Parish and parts of Acadia, Lafayette, and St. Landry Parishes in Acadiana, including some or all of Abbeville, Kaplan, Erath, Scott, Rayne, Church Point, and Sunset. The district overlaps with Louisiana's 3rd and 4th congressional districts, and with the 31st, 39th, 40th, 41st, 42nd, 45th, 47th, and 49th districts of the Louisiana House of Representatives. Gueydan (local pronunciation e(ɪ)dɔ̃ is a town in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 1,398 at the 2010 census, down from 1,598 in 2000. At the 2020 population estimates program, its population decreased to 1,328. It is part of the Abbeville micropolitan statistical area. History For thousands of years, indigenous peoples lived along the waterways of Louisiana. They were able to hunt plentiful game and harvest fish from the rivers. In historic times, this area was inhabited by the Attakapa and Chitimacha.
