Bob Gibbs (Australian Politician)
Robert James Gibbs (born 3 November 1946) is an Australian politician. He was a Labor member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1977 to 1999, representing Wolston until 1992 and Bundamba thereafter. Born in Brisbane on 3 November 1946, Gibbs was a boilermaker before his election and was an organiser for the Miscellaneous Workers' Union The Federated Miscellaneous Workers' Union (FMWUl commonly known as the 'Missos') was an Australian trade union from 1915 to 1992. Wayne Goss
Wayne Keith Goss (26 February 1951 – 10 November 2014) was Premier of Queensland from 7 December 1989 until 19 February 1996, becoming the first Labor Premier of the state in over 32 years. Prior to entering politics, Goss was a solicitor, and after leaving politics he served as Chairman of the Queensland Art Gallery and Chairman of Deloitte Australia. Early life He was born at Mundubbera, Queensland, and grew up at Inala where he was educated at Inala State High School and the University of Queensland where he earned a bachelor of laws degree. The Federated Miscellaneous Workers' Union (FMWUl commonly known as the 'Missos') was an Australian trade union from 1915 to 1992. It represented an extremely diverse and disparate range of occupations, but its core support came from workers employed in cleaning and security services. The union merged with the Federated Liquor and Allied Industries Employees' Union of Australia to form United Voice in 1992. Formation The union was first established on 6 May 1910 as the Watchmen, Caretakers and Cleaners Union of New South Wales (WCCU), which was created by the Organising Committee of the New South Wales Labor Council. The task of organisation was a difficult one due to the casualised and isolated nature of the occupations covered. The Legislative Assembly of Queensland is the sole chamber of the unicameral Parliament of Queensland established under the Constitution of Queensland. Electoral District Of Wolston
Wolston was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1972 to 1992. First created for the 1972 state election, the district was based in the eastern part of Ipswich, essentially replacing the abolished district of Ipswich East. Wolston was a safe seat for the Labor Party. Wolston was abolished by the 1991 redistribution; the first redistribution undertaken to comply with the one vote one value reforms. Its territory was largely divided between the new electorates of Bundamba and Inala with parts also added to the new district of Mount Ommaney. Brenda Gibbs (; born 3 September 1947) is a former Australian politician. She was a Senator for Queensland from 1996 to 2002, representing the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Early life Gibbs was born on 3 September 1947 in Liverpool, England. She was the daughter of Margaret Anne (née Clough) and Norman Coombs. Gibbs arrived in Australia with her family in 1953, settling in Brisbane; she did not become an Australian citizen until 1984. They initially lived in a migrant camp in Moorooka and in state housing in Inala, before moving into their own house in Moorooka in 1960. Gibbs attended Windsor State School, Moorooka State School and Salisbury State High School. She left high school after two years.
