Boat Libraries
The Boat Libraries were operated under the auspices of the Andhra Pradesh Library Association, Vijayawada. They are mobile libraries or bookmobiles as per the functionality, but boats were used as a conveyance for transporting books to the boat travellers/users. Initiation Paturi Nagabhushanam initiated boat libraries to inculcate reading interest, books, and libraries among the public. He started the Boat Library service in 1935 in addition to the other regular activities of the Andhra Pradesh Library Movement and conducted this service for about seven years for the Padapalem "Sevasrama Vani Mandir". In those days, all people of the Guntur district villages in Andhra Pradesh were relying on 'Boats' to travel and transport goods. Villagers were idling their boat travel time in chit-chatting. Andhra Pradesh Library Association
The Andhra Pradesh Library Association was established on 10 April 1914. It is the oldest state library association in India. The association is headquartered at Vijayawada. The association emerged with a noble mission of spreading literacy, knowledge, and awareness among the public. Since its inception, the association has been functioning with the sole aim of taking library movement to the public. Formation Andhra Library Movement and Andhra Library Association have had their origin with organizing Andhra Library Congress on 10 April 1914. Iyyanki Venkataramanaiah and Suri Venkata Narasimha Sastri initiated the formation of Association of Libraries of Andhra Area (Andhra Pradesha Grantha Bhandagara Sangham), which was later renamed as - Library Association of Andhra Area (Andhra Desa Granthalaya Sangham) and it became Andhra Pradesh Library Association (Andhra Pradesh Granthalaya Sangham) after the formation of Andhra Pradesh State. Ship Libraries
A ship is a large watercraft that travels the world's oceans and other sufficiently deep waterways, carrying cargo or passengers, or in support of specialized missions, such as defense, research, and fishing. A bookmobile or mobile library is a vehicle designed for use as a library. They have been known by many names throughout history, including traveling library, library wagon, book wagon, book truck, library-on-wheels, and book auto service. Bookmobiles expand the reach of traditional libraries by transporting books to potential readers, providing library services to people in otherwise underserved locations (such as remote areas) and/or circumstances (such as residents of retirement homes). Andhra Patrika
Andhra Patrika was the weekly newspaper of the nationalist movement in the Telugu speaking region founded by Kasinadhuni Nageswara Rao in 1908. It later transformed into a daily newspaper before it closed down in 1991. It helped to shape both modern Telugu language and an identity that resulted in the creation of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Tenali
Tenali is a city in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a municipality and the headquarters of Tenali mandal and Tenali revenue division.
