Bo Holmström
Bo Eric Holmström (18 October 1938 – 12 October 2017) was a Swedish journalist, reporter and author. He worked as a reporter both for SVT and TV4. He was the Swedish reporter covering the Norrmalmstorg robbery in 1973 and the West German Embassy siege in Stockholm in 1975. On 11 September 2003 he was the first reporter to announce in media that Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh had died from injuries sustained after an attack earlier that same day. He was reporting from Karolinska hospital for TV4. In 2007 he was awarded the Stora journalistpriset for his journalism work. In 2015, he was awarded an honorary Kristallen at the Kristallen awards. In 2016, gangrene in his leg led to its amputation. Reinfeldt Cabinet
The cabinet of Fredrik Reinfeldt ( sv, Regeringen Reinfeldt) was the cabinet of Sweden from 2006 to 2014. It was a coalition cabinet consisting of the four parties in the centre-right Alliance for Sweden: the Moderate Party, Centre Party, Liberal People's Party and the Christian Democrats. The cabinet was installed on 6 October 2006, following the 2006 general election which ousted the Social Democrats after twelve years in power. It retained power after the 2010 general election as a minority government, and was the longest-serving consecutive non- social democratic government since the cabinet of Erik Gustaf Boström in 1900. Vagnhärad
Vagnhärad is a locality situated in Trosa Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 3,324 inhabitants in 2010. Landslide On 23 May 1997 a landslide along the banks of the Trosaån, or Trosa River, damaged or destroyed 7 residential houses. Only one person was injured but a total of 29 houses were demolished and 96 people lost their homes in the effort of preventing future slides in the area. The total cost of the slide has been calculated as approximately 150 million SEK. During the summer of 2011 new cracks in the ground were found in the area around Brovägen, also alongside the river, threatening approximately 20 more buildings. TV4 (Sweden)
TV4 (''TV fyra'') is a Swedish free-to-air television network owned by TV4 AB, a subsidiary of the TV4 Media AB. It started broadcasting by satellite in 1990 and, since 1992, on terrestrial television. In 1994, TV4 became the largest channel and remained so for a number of years. The two channels of Sveriges Television (SVT) lost more and more viewers for a couple of years. After making schedule changes in 2001, SVT1 had practically the same numbers of viewers as TV4. From 2004 to 2019, the TV4 Group was a fully active member of the European Broadcasting Union. History TV4 was launched on 15 September 1990. Norrmalmstorg Robbery
The Norrmalmstorg robbery was a bank robbery and hostage crisis best known as the origin of the term '' Stockholm syndrome''. It occurred at the Norrmalmstorg Square in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 1973 and was the first criminal event in Sweden to be covered by live television. Jan-Erik Olsson was a convicted criminal who had disappeared while on furlough from prison and then held up the Kreditbanken bank, taking four hostages in the process. During the negotiations that followed, Swedish Minister of Justice Lennart Geijer allowed Olsson's former cellmate and friend Clark Olofsson to be brought from prison to the bank. Although Olofsson was a long-time career criminal, it was deemed unlikely that he was in league with Olsson. Famously, the hostages then bonded with their captors and appeared to protect them. West German Embassy Siege
The West German Embassy siege in Stockholm, Sweden, was a hostage standoff initiated by the Red Army Faction (RAF) on 24 April 1975. Collectively, the attackers referred to themselves as Kommando Holger Meins, after Holger Meins, an RAF member who had died of starvation during a (collective) hunger strike in Wittlich Prison on 9 November 1974. The RAF group carried out the attack with the goal of forcing the release of RAF members and others from prison in West Germany. During the siege they stated: "The Holger Meins Commando is holding members of the embassy staff in order to free prisoners in West Germany. If the police move in, we shall blow the building up with 15 kilos of TNT." Anna Lindh
Ylva Anna Maria Lindh (19 June 1957 – 11 September 2003) was a Swedish Social Democratic politician and lawyer who served as Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1998 until her death. She was also a Member of the Riksdag (member of parliament) for Södermanland County until her assassination. On 10 September 2003, four days before a referendum on replacing the Swedish krona with the euro as currency, Lindh was stabbed by Mijailo Mijailović at the NK department store in central Stockholm; she died the next morning at Karolinska University Hospital. Anna Lindh had been seen as a likely candidate to succeed Göran Persson as Social Democratic party leader. Gangrene
Gangrene is a type of tissue death caused by a lack of blood supply. Symptoms may include a change in skin color to red or black, numbness, swelling, pain, skin breakdown, and coolness.
