Bluewaters Island
Bluewaters Island is an artificial island off the Jumeirah Beach Residence coastline, near Dubai Marina, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Bluewater Island is a popular tourist attraction destination in Dubai. The island is home to Ain Dubai. History The project was approved by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and unveiled on February 13, 2013. It is built on reclaimed land by Meraas Holding, with dredging work conducted by Van Oord, the Dutch firm known for its work on Palm Jumeirah, at an estimated cost AED 6 billion (1.6 billion USD, including the Ain Dubai, formerly the Dubai Eye). Ain Dubai (; ) is a giant Ferris wheel located at Bluewaters Island in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the world's tallest observation wheel, at a height of , since October 2021. Ain Dubai is taller than the previous world's tallest observation wheel, the High Roller, which opened in Las Vegas in March 2014. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (; 6 May 1918 – 2 November 2004) was an Emirati royal, politician, philanthropist and the founder of the United Arab Emirates. Madame Tussauds (, ) is a wax museum founded in London in 1835 by the French wax sculptor Marie Tussaud. The Jumeirah Burj Al Arab (, ), commonly known as Burj Al Arab, is a luxury hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Developed and managed by Jumeirah, it is one of the tallest hotels in the world, although 39% of its total height is made up of non-occupiable space. Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island that is from Jumeirah Beach and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. The New York Wheel was a proposed Ferris wheel to be located in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City, next to the Empire Outlets retail complex. The project was announced in 2012 as part of an effort to make St. George a tourist attraction. It was canceled by investors in September 2018 after New York City mayor Bill de Blasio refused to endorse selling city bonds to finance what he called a risky speculative project that was supposed to be entirely privately funded.
