Bluestone State Park is a state park in Summers County, West Virginia. The park is located along the western shore of Bluestone Lake, an impoundment of the New River (West Virginia), New River built and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The park and lake are named after the Bluestone River, that flows into the New River (Kanawha River), New River at the park. Bluestone Lake
Bluestone Lake is a flood control reservoir located on the New River (Kanawha River), New River near Hinton, West Virginia, Hinton, in the U.S. state of West Virginia. At its normal pool level, Bluestone Dam impounds a stretch of the New and its tributary, the Bluestone River. Normally approximately in size, the lake can grow to over long at flood control pool. At higher water levels, the lake extends into Giles County, Virginia, Giles County, Virginia. Bluestone Dam The lake is formed by the Bluestone Dam, a concrete gravity dam located just upstream of the confluence of the New and Greenbrier River, Greenbrier rivers. The dam is high and long. There are 37 state parks in the U.S. state of West Virginia . Bluestone Wildlife Management Area
Bluestone Wildlife Management Area (also known as Bluestone Lake Wildlife Management Area) is a wildlife management area in southern West Virginia surrounding Bluestone Lake and the New River. The section of the lake from just upstream of the Bluestone River to Bluestone Dam is in Bluestone State Park; the rest of the lake in West Virginia basin comprises Bluestone WMA. All together, the WMA comprises of land and water. The wildlife management area is operated by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Section to provide hunting and fishing opportunities to the public and to protect the natural resources of the land. Summers County is a County (United States), county located in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the population was 11,959. Its county seat is Hinton, West Virginia, Hinton.
