Blue Care
Blue Care is an agency of UnitingCare Queensland, the health and community arm of the Uniting Church in Queensland, Australia. Originally established as the Blue Nursing Service by the Methodist Church in 1953, it has grown into one of the largest not-for-profit providers of residential aged care, community care and retirement living in Queensland and northern New South Wales. In 2009 on Queensland Day it was announced that Blue Care was the recipient of the Queensland Greats Awards. History The Newtown Methodist Mission in Sydney, launched an aged care nursing service in 1949. The nurses became known as the "Angels in Blue" because of their blue uniforms. Inspired by the Newtown service, the Blue Nursing Service was launched in Brisbane, Queensland, on 24 August 1953 by the West End Methodist Mission. UnitingCare Australia is the national body for the UnitingCare network, made up of the Uniting Church in Australia's (UCA) community services agencies. It is a sister body to UnitingJustice Australia, and UnitingWorld. All are agencies of the Uniting Church in Australia, National Assembly. UnitingCare Australia advocates on behalf of the UnitingCare network to the Australian Federal Government. Frank Roberts (Australian Politician)
Frank Edwards Roberts (28 February 1913 – 7 June 1992) was an Australian politician. He was Lord Mayor of Brisbane from 1952 to 1955, and was a member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly from 1947 to 1956, representing the electorate of Nundah. As with his predecessor as Mayor, John Beals Chandler, he was simultaneously Lord Mayor and a state MP. He represented Labor from 1947 to 1953 before resigning from the party; he was defeated for re-election as an independent for Lord Mayor in 1955 and as an MP in 1956. Roberts was born in Melbourne, but was raised on a farm in the Mallee region of Victoria, and did not attend school until age nine due to the isolation. His family moved to Queensland during the Great Depression, and settled in Ashgrove. Keiraville, Ipswich
Keiraville is a heritage-listed detached house at 20 Roderick Street, Ipswich, City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. It was built . It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 9 July 1993. History Keiraville is a single storeyed rendered masonry house, the first stage of which was probably erected s by contractor John MacKenzie. Soon after it was sold to the Cribb family. In 1938, it was sold to the Congregational Church for use as a manse. Allotment 5 on which the house is erected was first proclaimed a town lot in 1884. It was sold in that year to John MacKenzie. In 1888, Clarissa Cribb purchased the allotment, together with the adjoining allotment 4 on the corner of Roderick Street and Warwick Road. The house was lived in by her son Harry Cribb and his wife until 1895.
