''Blossom Time'' ( sv, Den blomstertid) is a 1940 Swedish drama film directed by Alf Sjöberg and starring Sture Lagerwall, Gerd Hagman and Arnold Sjöstrand.Qvist & Von Bagh p.131 It was shot at the Sundbyberg Studios of Europafilm in Stockholm with location shooting on Ornö. The film's sets were designed by the art director Max Linder. Alf Sjöberg
Sven Erik Alf Sjöberg (21 June 1903 – 17 April 1980) was a Swedish theatre and film director. He won the Grand Prix du Festival at the Cannes Film Festival twice: in 1946 for ''Torment'' ( sv, Hets) (part of an eleven-way tie), and in 1951 for his film ''Miss Julie'' ( sv, Fröken Julie) (an adaptation of August Strindberg's play which tied with Vittorio De Sica's '' Miracle in Milan''). Despite his success with those films, Sjöberg was foremost a stage director, perhaps the greatest at Dramaten (alongside first Olof Molander and later Ingmar Bergman). He was a First Director of Sweden's Royal Dramatic Theatre between 1930 and 1980; he staged there many remarkable and historic productions. Sjöberg was also a pioneer director of drama for early Swedish TV (his 1955 TV production of ''Hamlet'' is a national milestone). Carl Barcklind
Carl Barcklind (1 June 1873 – 21 August 1945) was a Swedish stage and film actor. Biography Carl Vilhelm Barcklind was born at Sala in Västmanland County, Sweden. He made his debut as an opera singer in 1907 at the Oscarsteatern. He was associated with Albert Ranft as an actor in operettas in his theaters 1898–1922. Barcklind was director of Stora Teatern in Gothenburg 1925–1927. He toured the United States from 1927 to 1928 and was employed by the Dramaten in 1930. Barcklind is buried at Norra begravningsplatsen in Stockholm. Valborg Svensson (29 January 1903 – 20 April 1983) was a Swedish communist politician and journalist. She was a long-term member of the Stockholm city council and contributed to various publications of the Communist Party. Early life Svensson was born in Huskvarna, Jönköping, on 29 January 1903. Her mother died when she was 7. Her father married again, and she was adopted by a teacher when the family had more children. At 15 she began to work as a maid and then became a worker at a textile factory in Jönköping between 1923 and 1927. Political activities Svensson joined the Communist Party in 1928. She was a board member of a publication entitled ''Arbetarkvinnornas tidning'' (Swedish: ''Working women’s paper'') from 1930 which was affiliated with the Communist Party.
