Bloom (musical)
''Bloom'' is an Australian musical with book and lyrics by Tom Gleisner, music by Katie Weston and directed by Dean Bryant. Set in an aged care facility, the musical comedy is a story of intergenerational connection and the power of music. It was originally produced by the Melbourne Theatre Company at the Arts Centre Melbourne Playhouse, from 18 July to 26 August 2023. The cast included Anne Edmonds, Frankie J. Holden, Evelyn Krape, Vidya Makan, Maria Mercedes, Eddie Muliaumaseali’i, John O’May, Christina O’Neill, Jackie Rees and Slone Sudiro. A Sydney season at the Roslyn Packer Theatre for the Sydney Theatre Company is scheduled for March to May 2025. Tom Gleisner
Thomas Edmund Gleisner (born 24 October 1962) is an Australian comedian and producer. Gleisner co-founded production company Working Dog Productions and currently hosts Network 10's ''Have You Been Paying Attention?''. Early life and education Gleisner was educated at Xavier College in Melbourne, Australia. He attended the University of Melbourne in the 1980s, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws in 1987. While he was a university student he began working with Santo Cilauro and Rob Sitch in the 1983 Law Revue ''Legal A.I.D.S.'' Gleisner wrote and performed in the 1985 Melbourne University Revue ''Too Cool for Sandals.'' The Melbourne Theatre Company is a theatre company based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Founded in 1953 as the Union Theatre Repertory Company at the Union Theatre at the University of Melbourne, it is the oldest professional theatre company in Australia. Anne Elizabeth Gabrielle Edmonds (born 11 October 1979) is an Australian comedian and actress best known for her stand-up work and for creating and starring in the ABC comedy series ''The Edge of the Bush''. Francisco Javier Bautista Jr. (born December 7, 1975) better known by his stage name Frankie J, is a Mexican-American singer and former member of the musical group Kumbia Kings. Maria Moutsidis (), known professionally as Maria Mercedes, is a Greek-descended Australian television, film and stage actress, performer and singer. John O'May
John O'May is an American-born Australian actor, best known for his stage performances. Early life O'May was born at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, one of four children. He grew up with a love of reading and literature. At university he dabbled in theatre, learning acting, stagecraft and building sets. He became a teacher at Patapsco High School, where he himself had attended high school. He taught English literature for two and a half years. She has also appeared on television shows and in films. In March 2012, she married fellow performer, Rohan Browne.
