In the Netherlands and Belgium, a ''bloemencorso'' (; meaning "flower parade", "flower pageant" or "flower procession") is a parade where the floats (''praalwagens''), cars and (in some cases) boats are magnificently decorated or covered in flowers. This custom goes back as far as the Middle Ages. Each parade has its own character, charm and theme. Many towns and regions in the area hold parades every year. In December 2021, the culture of flower and fruit parades in the Netherlands was inscribed with the International Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO. Duin- En Bollenstreek
The Duin- en Bollenstreek (; Dutch for "Dune and Bulb Region") is a region in the Western Netherlands, that features coastal dunes and the cultivation of Bulb, flower bulbs. Situated at the heart of historical Holland nearby the city of Leiden, South Holland, it is bordered by The Hague to the west and Haarlem to the north. The combination of beaches, flower fields, lakes and history makes this area attractive to tourists. Composition and name The Dune and Bulb Region stretches from the area around the lower reaches of the Oude Rijn (Utrecht and South Holland), Old Rhine west of Leiden to just south of Haarlem. Since it is not a municipality or administrative region, the region's borders are not clearly defined. The Dune and Bulb Region proper is made up of the towns from Katwijk to Hillegom, and from the coast to the Kaag Lakes. Noordwijk () is a town and municipality in the west of the Netherlands, in the provinces of the Netherlands, province of South Holland. Katwijk () is a coastal municipality and town in the province of South Holland, which is situated in the mid-western part of the Netherlands. Rijnsburg
Rijnsburg () is a village in the eastern part of the municipality of Katwijk, in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It lies on the Oude Rijn (Utrecht and South Holland), Oude Rijn, from which it takes its name. Leersum is a town in the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug in the Dutch province of Utrecht. It lies about 7 km (4.3 mi) east of Doorn and 9 km (5.5 mi) west of Veenendaal. Frederiksoord
Frederiksoord is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. It is a part of the municipality of Westerveld, and lies about 24 km northwest of Hoogeveen. Frederiksoord was founded in 1818. Elim (Drenthe)
Elim is a village in Drenthe (province of The Netherlands) and is part of the Hoogeveen municipality. History Before 1786, there were only swamps in this part of the Netherlands. After the drainage of the swamps, people started to harvest peat, which was transported to the west of the Netherlands.
